Joy Hornberger and Elizabeth Ennis both Spartan cheerleaders, were nominated and auditioned over the summer to be a part of the All American cheerleaders, while attending Pine Forest Cheer Camp. Only 10% of cheerleaders and dancers who audition to be a part of All American, make the cut.
On Tuesday the girls traveled to Philadelphia, had a "Welcome to Philadelphia" dinner and went right to rehearsal. Wednesday morning brought more practice held on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum. Other activities are planned for the squad including a walking tour of historic Philadelphia along with a dinner cruise on the Spirit of Philadelphia. Thursday morning the girls will board buses at 5:00 am to head to the parade route, with one more rehearsal to go, they will then march from 8:15 am until 12:00 pm, they will also be in the grand finale with the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus. Their last performance will be on the "Rocky" steps at the art museum. After the parade the families off all the All American cheerleaders will have a Thanksgiving dinner together and then a dance party.
The All American Cheeerleaders squad has over 150 members and include girls from the entire eastern half of the U.S., including Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
The 100th Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parade will be live on local Philadelphia channels.
