According to Rush Township Police, on October 26th, 2019, Melissa Schartel, 54, of Tamaqua was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant.
Police say Schartel went to the Rush Township Trunk-or-Treat event, where police noticed she was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
While investigating the public drunkenness incident, a records check confirmed that she was wanted by the Schuylkill County Detective’s Office for an outstanding criminal warrant.
Schartel was transported to the Schuylkill County Prison, where she was lodged pending a hearing in common pleas court. A citation was also filed on Schartel for public drunkenness.
