An active warrant has been issued for a woman involved in a hit and run earlier this month in Pine Grove.
On December 2nd, 2019, around 2:30pm, Pine Grove Police Officer Tyler Dissinger along with Chief Trotter were dispatched to the area of East Pottsville and Christ Street for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle.
At the scene, police had a victim that was injured but the vehicle involved had fled the scene.
After investigatin, the police determined the vehicle to be a 2006-2010 dark Blue Ford Fusion, with tinted windows, and due to the incident, should have a shattered windshield and broken driver side mirror.
The person struck, suffered injuries to his head and left arm during the incident and was transported to Hershey Medical Center.
After putting out a release to the media with the vehicle's description, on December 5th, 2019, a witness contacted police and said they had seen the vehicle with the damage reported. The witness was also able to identify the driver in the vehicle at the time as Laisey Hoy, 28, of Tremont.
On December 6th, 2019, Hoy provided a statement to police that a male in a red pickup came speeding towards her as she turned left at the intersection of Tulpehocken and Pottsville Street. After a verbal confrontation, she said the person struck had punched her windshield and stood in her way to block her way out. Hoy then said the male grabbed onto the ridge of her windshield, and fell off as she made left turn in order to attempt to swing the man from her vehicle. Hoy also told police she feared for her life.
On December 9th, 2019, Chief Trotter followed up with the victim, where he told police that Hoy turned left in front of him at the intersection and a passenger made an obscene gesture at him. After Hoy pulled into the Pine Grove Pharmacy parking lot, he got out of his vehicle and yelled at Hoy.
According to the victim, she backed up turned towards him, hit him with her vehicle, throwing him up onto the hood then throwing him to the ground where he fell onto his head and back. The victim said he was unable to move his arms and legs after being knocked out for a few seconds.
Pine Grove Police have filed a criminal complaint against Hoy charging her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, careless driving, duty to give information and render aid, and immediate notice of accident to the police department.
A criminal complaint was filed on December 18th, 2019 charging Hoy with the above charges. An active warrant has been issued for her arrest.
