Thanks to the quick response of Ashland firefighters, an oil burner fire was quickly contained on Christmas eve.
At 5:14pm, Tuesday, emergency personnel were dispatched to 122 West Centre Street in Ashland for a chimney fire.
The first firefighters at the scene found heavy black smoke coming from the chimney of the home and found the oil burner on fire in the basement.
Firefighters quickly doused the flames and contained the fire. Crew remained on scene checking for any other fire that may have spread.
Fire crews cleared the scene by 6:00pm.
Responding to the scene were the American Hose Company, Washington Fire Company, Washington Ambulance, and Rangers Hose Company from Girardville.
