Helmold earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Newark, N.J., where he also completed his general surgery internship, orthopedic surgery residency and fellowship in hand and microsurgery. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
“Prior to becoming an orthopedic surgeon, I was a civil engineer. I became an orthopedic surgeon as it allowed me to combine my interests in medicine, engineering and helping my fellow man,” Helmold says.
