Jerry Joseph Feathers, 39 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 25, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Pottsville.

Born Thursday, August 14, 1980 in Allentown , Pennsylvania, he was the son of Jerry Feathers and Corinne" Corky" Heffelfinger Feathers of Tamaqua. He is also survived by his wife, Amber Murphy Feathers; sons, Curtis D. Feathers, Jesiah J. Feathers and Xavier M. Feathers; sister, Andrea M. Feathers and her companion Casey Snyder and their daughter, Cally R. Snyder; niece, Delilah; nephew Damian; maternal grand mother, Rozanne Brozyno; paternal grand mother, Inge Feathers.

Jerry attended Tamaqua Schools and graduated from W.T.T.I in Allentown as a certified Welder. He last worked for Merk Construction of Denver, Pa. Jerry enjoyed 4 - Wheeling and lifting weights.

Jerry will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Tuesday December 10, 2019 at 7 o'clock P.M. from the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.

Leo T. Slecton 89, of Shenandoah, PA passed away peacefully on December 3, 2019. Leo was born in Hazleton, PA on August 8, 1930 to Wassil and Mary Szlachtianchyn. Leo served his country as a Marine Sgt during the Korean War. He was an active 42-year member of the Anthony P. Damato "Medal of Honor" American Legion Post in Shenandoah, PA where he proudly served as Commander 3 times and as an Adjutant since 2006.

Leo was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Camel Church; member of the Hazleton Gun, Game and Athletic Club and a member of Shenandoah Senior Citizens. Leo worked hard his entire life. He worked as a Maintenance Mechanic in New Jersey, he was a Supervisor for Metropolitan Mirror and Glass in Frackville, PA, he worked as a Warehouseman for Chromatex, Inc in Hazleton, and as Maintenance Supervisor for Shenandoah Village Apartments in Shenandoah, PA.

Leo loved his Casino trips, his Friday night poker games with his fellow Post 792 Veteran buddies, doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, spending time with his dogs Pumpkin, KC, Coko and his best buddy Chewie, and sitting out in Margaritaville at his home during the summer.

Leo was the last remaining member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife Rose Ford; his brothers Wassil Jr., John, Mike, Joseph and Pete Szlachtianchyn and Sisters Ann Purosky and Mary Crugnale. Surviving Leo are his Son Leo Slecton and Wife Tracey, Tampa, Florida; daughter Annette Pronio (Caregiver) and husband Mark of Shenandoah, PA with whom he lived with his last 10 years; daughter Sandy Kowalick and Husband Paul of Girardville, PA; son Tom Ford and wite Diane of Lancaster, PA; daughter Rosemary Shustack and husband Robert of Shenandoah, PA; son Bruce Ford and wife Bev (deceased) of Port Clinton, Ohio along with 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Mary and Debbie. Granddaughters- Kayleigh Pronio; Deanna Wasser, Crystal Kowalick, Kim and Kris Ford. Grandsons- Christian Pronio; Craig Kowalick, Michael Ford, Doug Ford, and Randy Shustack along with many Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

The family will host a Celebration of Leo's Life to be held at the Anthony P. Damato Post at 116-118 North Main Street in Shenandoah, PA on December 14, 2019 from 12pm to 3pm for family and friends.

*Burial will be at the convenience of the Family.

Carlotta Ann Gilbert, 70, of Shenandoah passed away on Tuesday, December 3rd at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.

Born in New Albany, Indiana on August 22nd, 1949 she was the daughter of the late William E. and Margaret Gilbert.

Carlotta had a very strong work ethic having worked for many years as a CNA, a clerk at Boyer’s Food Market and other department stores, and a factory worker; she was a secretary at the former Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah for Fr. Nugent & Fr. Whalen, and volunteered as an activity aide for the local nursing homes. Besides her work, she was very devoted to her faith. Carlotta was a member of Divine Mercy Parish serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She also volunteered at many church functions. She was a member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included traveling, especially to the Gettysburg area; she loved pizza, making Christmas cookies, playing Solitaire, and enjoyed collecting angels.

Besides her parents, Carlotta was preceded by 2 brothers, Timothy and Jonathan Gilbert.

Surviving are 1 son, Edward Crosby with his wife Bernadette, Muncy, Pa, 1 daughter, Rebecca Crosby with Albert Kessock, Mountville, Pa, 1 brother, William C. Gilbert with his wife Joan, Washington State, 4 grandchildren, Sean Crosby, Megan Crosby, Justin Crosby, and Alison Crosby, and nieces and nephews. She also loved her cat Anna.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 9th at 10am in Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Worship Site – St. Casimir’s, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah with Msgr. Ronald Bocian officiating. A visitation for family and friends will take place Monday morning from 8 to 9:30am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Burial will follow in the Annunciation BVM Parish Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Charles Rushannon, 78, of Minersville, passed away on Wednesday at Schuylkill Center.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Anthony and Helen Rutecky Roshannon. He attended Cass Township schools, and worked on highway construction as a pipefitter. He later worked as a delivery driver for the Pottsville Republican & Herald. He also owned and operated Charlie’s Pool Room in Minersville.

An Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the AMVETS.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John “Cookie” Roshannon, Joseph “Buzzy” Roshannon and Anthony “Dunda” Roshannon.

Surviving are four children, Charles S. Rushannon, Sr. (spouse, April), Pottsville, Veronica Rapali, Pottsville, Kathleen Yourey, Minersville, and Vincent Rushannon, Riverside, California; his companion, Shirley Rountree, Minersville; 13 grandchildren, Charles S. Rushannon, Jr., Makenna Rushannon, Brett Rushannon, Madison, Rushannon, Macie Rushannon, Joseph Rapali, Ryan Rapali, Rylee Rapali, Luciano Yourey, Abigaile Yourey, Lorenzo Yourey, Dominico Yourey, and Mitchell Rushannon. He is also survived by two siblings, Dorothy Maxwell, Reading, and George “Babe” Roshannon, Minersville; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Monday from 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 P.M. Interment will be private in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township.

Rosemary "Roey" von Leer Lebo, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Lake Hauto, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospice in Bethlehem after a brief illness.

Widow of John Packer "Jack" Lebo, who passed away on January 28,1979, Roey is survived by: daughter, Elizabeth Lebo of Lake Hauto, John P. Lebo and his wife, Shari of Thompsons Station, TN, William N. Lebo and his wife, Zoila of McKinney, TX, Robert C. Lebo of Lake Hauto; sister, Isabel von Leer Matino of Ringtown; grandchildren, Stephanie Samsel Cohen, Tiffany Samsel Tillman, Jack Lebo, Samantha Lebo, Kathryn Lebo, Hunter Lebo, Derek Lebo, Zack Lebo, Alex Lebo and great grandchild, Cameron Cohen.

Born in Shenandoah on April 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Elizabeth (Durkin) von Leer. She was also predeceased by brothers, Lemuel, Murtha, and William von Leer.

Roey was a 1948 graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School where she was Directress of the Glee Club. She attended McCann's School of Business in Mahanoy City. Upon graduation, she worked for a number of regional businesses including L. A. Lutz in Mahanoy City, Malloy's Dairy and the Bell Telephone Company in Shenandoah.

Meeting her husband Jack thru mutual friends, Roey married in 1957 and moved to Tamaqua. Jack, along with partner, the late Brum Donohue, owned and operated P&B Sporting Goods on Pine Street. She was a member of the former Saints Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, longtime member of the Tamaqua Women's Club, volunteered in the Tamaqua High School Library and worked the concession stand during Tamaqua football games.

Roey and Jack moved to Lake Hauto in 1970. She was the Lake Hauto club secretary for 19 years, the first female Board member and the only elected female Board President. During her tenure, she was instrumental in solidifying the purchase of the lake’s south shore for the sole purpose of maintaining its natural beauty.

Roey was an avid reader and most enjoyed spending time with her family.
