William Elden Coombe, 88, of Tamaqua, PA and formerly of Delaware, Reading, and West Penn Township, died on Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Hometown, PA.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Marie (nee Hoffman) Coombe to whom he was married 58 years at the time of her death on June 16, 2018. Born in Tamaqua on May 24, 1931, William was a son of the late Thomas and Lillian Edith Leona (nee Gilfert) Coombe. A 1949 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he served in the Navy from 1950-1954 during the Korean War. In 1958, William moved to Delaware to work for ICI America now called AstraZeneca. While still working for ICI, he owned and operated Panther Valley Home Improvements which was a paint contracting business that did private home painting and he also owned a Beauty Salon. After retirement in 1990, he and Elizabeth lived in Reading, PA and when they moved to West Penn Township, PA, William and Elizabeth owned and operated the Blue and White Restaurant for a time. He was a member of the American Hose Company #1 in Tamaqua. William and Elizabeth loved to travel and spent many of the last years traveling to several states in the USA.

He is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. His siblings, Thomas Coombe, Ernest Coombe, Arthur Coombe, Lillian Kenner, and Franklin Coombe all predeceased him.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 19 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Darryl Kensinger officiating. Marjorie Catherine Krill, 91, of Barnesville, PA died on Sunday, December 15 in Coaldale, PA.

She was the wife of the late Nicholas Krill who died in 1969 and to whom she was married 20 years at the time of his death.

Born in Shenandoah, PA on May 17, 1928, Marjorie was a daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (nee Heckman) Brobst. A graduate of the former Delano High School, Delano, PA, she had her own beauty salon in Quakake, PA since 1970 and was employed in the business office of the former Coaldale State Hospital for 20 years. Marjorie loved to cook, bake, knit, and crochet. For her work with the residents of the Hometown Nursing and Rehab Center, she received a citation from the PA House of Representatives. In addition, Marjorie was named Person of the Week by the Pottsville Republican Herald in 1993. She was of the Protestant faith.

Marjorie was predeceased by her daughter, Doris Krill in 1985. Marjorie’s twin sister, Margaret Fegley, also predeceased her.

She is survived by grandsons, Christopher Brick of Barnesville and Douglas Krill and his wife, Tina of Quakake; great grandson, Darren Krill; sisters, Doris Brobst and Gloria Gerhard; and several nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, December 20 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA will follow the services. Call 9-10 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials in her name may be made to the Activities Department, Hometown Nursing and Rehab Center, 149 Lafayette Avenue, Tamaqua, PA 18252. Catherine L. LaBore, 97, of Tower City, passed away Monday, December 16th at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center - East, Pottsville.

Born in Tower City, December 7, 1922, a daughter of the late Jacob and Ethel M. Schreiner Soliday.

Catherine was a retired seamstress from the garment industry.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton.

Catherine enjoyed reading and watching TV, especially sports.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles LaBore; her daughter Yvonne Hoffman, three sisters, Helen Wolfgang, Faye Hand and Betty Wise; one brother, Jacob Soliday.

Surviving are her son-in-law, Charles Hoffman, Tower City; three grandsons, Michael Hoffman (Bobbi), Allentown; Steven Hoffman, Tower City and Brian Hoffman (Regina), South Carolina; Great Grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor, Emily, Shawn and Katherine. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
