Pottsville Police are investigating an accident involving a pedestrian being struck late Tuesday on Route 61 in Pottsville.
According to Pottsville Police Chief Richard Wojciechowsky, the Pottsville Bureau of Police is investigating a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 at approximately 10:11pm at the intersection of Route 61/Claude A. Lord Blvd. and East Norwegian Street.
Wojciechowsky said the initial investigation showed a 41 year old Frackville man had been operating his 2006 Ford F-150 truck northbound on Route 61 when the vehicle struck a 38 yr old Pottsville woman as she was crossing the intersection on foot.

The female pedestrian sustained severe injury and was transported from the scene by Pottsville EMS to a medical facility. Neither the vehicle operator nor his adult female front seat passenger sustained injury.
Route 61 was closed from Arch Street to Union Street late Tuesday while the scene was investigated.
