On Sunday, the North Schuylkill Spartans held their annual end of year football banquet where the team and cheerleaders meet one final time to recognize the season's accomplishments, as well as to recognize their Seniors that will be leaving the team.
The 2019 season was certainly a memorable one after the team suffered one of the scariest moments in the school's history.
In October, quarterback Jaden Leiby suffered a serious injury during their game against Pottsville that left him with a broken neck and spinal chord injury.
Since that fateful day, Leiby has been recovering in Allentown and Philadelphia and had not been home since.
This past weekend, Leiby returned home for the first time and was able to attend the Football Banquet.
He talked to his friends, teammates, and classmates and didn't leave a dry eye in the house.
In short, Leiby told them "Play every play like it’s your last”.
Leiby also received a special football at the banquet recognizing him for earning over 1,000 rushing yards in his high school football career.
