Paul E. Burns, 72, of Pottsville, passed away on Friday at Valley Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center, Coopersburg.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Frank and Camillus Garrigan Burns. He was raised in Port Carbon and was a 1965 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School. He was employed by the former Miller Group, Port Carbon for 32 years. He later worked at the Big Lots Distribution Center, Tremont, until retiring.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville, and was a life member of the American Hose Company Number Two, Pottsville.
Paul enjoyed reading about World War Two, and was an avid fan of Philadelphia sports teams. He liked science fiction films and music from the 1950s and 1960s.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Burns, in 2006, and Donald Burns, in 2019.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Montag, with whom he would have celebrated 45 year of marriage this May. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and numerous in-laws.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 6:00 A.M. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be private at St. John the Baptist #2 Cemetery, Pottsville.

William F. Shafransky, 87, of Brandonville, passed away Saturday, February 15th, 2020.
Bill was born in Shenandoah, on September 28, 1932, a son of the late Louise (Wolowitz) and Francis Shafransky.
He lived and raised his family in Connecticut, and worked for the former Armstrong Rubber Company, a manufacturer of tires. He moved back to the Ringtown area in the early 1980's, when he then worked for and retired from Seitz Brother's Pest Control of Hometown.
Bill was a very outgoing person, and spent his time outdoors and also going to flea markets and yard sales. He also enjoyed winning at the local casinos.
He was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish in Shenandoah, and attended St. Casimir's Church. He was a former member of the Brandonville Fire Company.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Lukasik) Shafransky; a daughter, Barbara Mas, brothers, Joseph and Leon, and a sister Frances.
He is survived by two sons, William Shafransky and his wife Cynthia, of Shelton, CT; and Francis Shafransky and his wife Cathy, of West Haven, CT.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Scripture Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 21st at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown, with Msgr. Ronald Bocian officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 10-11 AM Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Bill will be laid to rest alongside his wife at St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights, following the service.
