Anthony “Tony” Kurdilla, 82, a well known Frackville musician, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 12th at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill, Pottsville surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Michael O. and Helen Homiak Kurdilla.
Tony was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy. He was a member of the Naval Academy Band, Annapolis Md, and a member of the Armed Forces Bicentential Band, touring all 50 states from 1974-76. He played for Presidents Johnson, Nixon and Ford. He relocated to Frackville, PA after retiring from the Navy, serving 22 years, to open the success music store Musicraft. Not only did Tony play but he also taught music lessons for many years, inspiring many in the career of music. Tony was known for his musical talents, as a woodwind musician who had a great love for playing tenor saxophone. Tony played for many famous people like Frank Sinatra, Liberace, Phyliss Diller, Bobby Vinton, Bobby Rydell, Frankie Avalon, Jerry Vale, Don Rickles, Milton Berle, Kenny Rogers, John Davidson, Alan Albert, Tommy Tunes, Petula Clark, Lucy Arnez, Alan King, Debbie Gibson, Dorothy Hamell, Johnny Mathias, Perry Como, Tony Bennett, Roberta Flack, The Temptations, Andy Williams, BJ Thomas, Fabian, Juan Lewan, Florence Henderson, and more.
Tony belonged to the Frackville Elks Lodge #1533, the Frackville American Legion Post 398, the former Frackville Masonic Lodge #737 F&AM where he served as Past Master twice, and currently a member of Pulaski Masonic Lodge #216 F&AM, Pottsville, the Shriners, the Fleet Reserve Club, Annapolis, MD and the Navy Musician Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Ann Kurdilla, a brother Daniel and his wife Ardith Kurdilla.
Tony is survived by his loving wife Joanne M. Dillman Kurdilla with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage with in July; his son Anthony Kurdilla, Ashland; his daughter Kim and her husband Stephen Phillips, Frackville; his four grandchildren: Dr. Stephen Phillips, DO and his wife Kat, Warrant Officer Joseph Phillips and his wife Jisun, Dominique Kurdilla, and Anthony Kurdilla III; his three great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Abigail, and Rhys Phillips; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville with Rev. Carl Shankweiler. Friends are invited to his viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville. A Fellowship and Celebration of Life will be held at the Frackville Borough Hall immediately after the services – all friends and family are welcome and invited.

Robert A. Edwards, 69, of Summit Station, passed away Sunday, February 16th, at St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.
Born in Pottsville, on March 21, 1950, a son of Robert W. Edwards and the late Helen (Fessler) Edwards.
He was the husband of Bonnie L. (Moyer) Edwards.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Summer Hill, Auburn, the NRA, USGA, Summit Station Fire Co., Am Vets, Strausstown Rod and Gun Club, Port Clinton Fish and Game and the Second Mountain Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, shooting trap and being outdoors.
He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from PP & L as a pole inspector.
In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by sons Chad husband of Michelle, Sacramento, CA and Neal husband of Jill, New Ringgold; grandchildren: Logan, Brenden, & Jacoby, brothers Dean, husband of Lori, Summit Station and Mark, husband of Elizabeth "Bunny", Chesapeake, VA; niece, nephew and great niece.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Summer Hill, Auburn, at 2:30 pm on Thursday, February 20th, with Pastor Kenneth McDowell officiating.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday 1:30 pm until the time of the service at the Church.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the Family.

Edna C. Weikel, 88, Girardville passed away peacefully Sunday, February 16th at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center.
Born in Hegins, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sally Moser Knorr. She worked as a seamstress for Stanell’s, Girardville and 2nd Street Sportswear, Ashland until her retirement. ‘
Edna was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, Girardville.
Edna enjoyed reading, loved to travel and had a passion for sewing and embroidery. She was also a caregiver to her parents and close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Earl Knorr, Charlie Knorr, Clarence Knorr, Freeman Horner, Clyde Horner and Catherine Jurgill; a granddaughter, Kelly Mack Enders.
Edna is survived by her loving children; George Weikel Jr., Joseph Weikel, Francis Weikel, Josephine Pryce, Mary Durose, Sandra Mack, Karen Kretulskie and Linda Grant; her brother, Irvin Knorr; her sisters, Marian Jordan and Eleanor Ruch; her nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services from Salem United Methodist Cemetery, 818 Deep Creek Road, Ashland will be announced.

Peter J. Schultz, 81, of Branch Township, passed away on Monday at Tremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Llewellyn, Branch Township, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary Melusky Schultz. He was a graduate of Branch Township High School and was an Army veteran. He worked on highway construction.
He was a member of Good Intent Hose Co No. 1, Llewellyn.
He was preceded in death by a son, Peter J. Schultz, Jr, as well as his seven siblings, Joseph Schultz, Charles Schultz, Doris Franks, Anthony Schultz, Michael Schultz, Francine Smith and Joanne Gavalis.
Pete is survived by a son, Stacey S Schultz, Hegins; a grandson, Lance Schultz; nieces and nephews.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. and on Friday from 6:00 A.M. until services at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka #2 Cemetery, Branch Township.

Christine M. Schultz, 51, of Port Carbon, formerly of Branch Township, passed away on Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill.
Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of Rita Jefferson Schultz, Port Carbon, and the late Marlin P. Schultz, Sr. She was a 1986 graduate of Minersville High School and also studied at McCann School of Business & Technology. She worked as a clerk at several local retailers, including Hill’s, Boscov’s, and Giant Food, Pottsville.
She was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville. She enjoyed fishing, but was an animal advocate.
In addition to her mother, Christine is survived by two siblings, Marlin P. Schultz, Jr. (companion, Marilyn Roberts), Primrose, Cass Township, and Jennifer Schultz, Port Carbon; two nephews, Marlin J. Schultz and Scott A. Schultz; two nieces, Greta Schultz and Jasmine Schultz; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until services at 7:00 P. M. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Stanislaus Kostka #2 Cemetery, Branch Township.

Robert 'Bobby' Williams, 65, of Ringtown, passed away Tuesday, February 18th, 2020, while in the company of his parents at the Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center, where he had been a guest.
Bobby was born at the former Locust Mountain Hospital on August 18, 1954, a son of Donald and Larue (Hinderliter) Williams of Ringtown.
He attended and was a graduate of the Schuylkill IU 29, and was a lifetime member of St.John's Lutheran Church in Ringtown.
Bobby was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, and a collector of baseball cards. He had a great admiration for superhero's.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elsie and John Hinderliter and Walter and Marion Williams. He was also preceded by a brother, Glenn Williams.
In addition to his parents, Donald and Larue, he is survived by his siblings, Debra Werner, of Ringtown; Gary Williams of Ringtown; Daniel Williams, of Harrisburg, Nancy, wife of Jerry Stauffer, Zion Grove; Lori, wife of Michael Bradley, of Schuylkill Haven and Wesley Williams of Ringtown.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
