On Thursday, February 13th, 2020, the Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement assigned to the Allentown District Enforcement Office, conducted an age compliance check detail in and around the areas of Tamaqua, Barnesville, Frackville, Saint Clair, and Pottsville.
From those checks, a total of 7 establishments were found to be in compliance:
- Wabash LLC, 50-52 Mauch Chunk Street, Tamaqua
- Kory B. Bates St., 15 Berkley Road, Barnesville
- Jimmy O's Sports Bar, 101 South Line Street, Frackville
- Michael Kazman, 10 Oak Street, Frackville
- Mark A. Getz, 400-402 South Lehigh Street, Frackville
- Old Buckhorn Café, 61 South Front Street, Saint Clair
- Centre Street Investments Inc, 501-503 North Centre Street, Pottsville
On December 27th, 2019, the following two establishments were found NOT to be in compliance
- Balky's Quarts and Six Packs, Girardville - On December 27th, 2019, alcoholic beverages were given to 19 year old minor.
- Shenandoah Pit Stop, Shenandoah - On December 27th, 2019, alcoholic beverages were given to 19 year old minor.
On January 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9, 2020, Revere Brewing LLC, Tamaqua was found to be selling alcoholic beverages that were dated to expire on December 31st, 2019.
The above three establishments' charges will be brought before the Adminstrative Law Judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the ALJ can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought. The ALJ can also mandate training for the licensee in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being a licensee.
