Schuylkill County Commissioners Enact Declaration of Disaster Emergency; County Courthouse to Remain Open

During a work session Wednesday evening, the Schuylkill County Commissioners enacted a Declaration of Disaster Emergency in response to the COVID-19 virus.


According to a press release from the Board of Commissioners and County Administrator, the purpose of the Declaration is to provide authorization for emergency management measures required to reduce the severity of this disaster and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of affected residents in Schuylkill County.

The Schuylkill County Board of Commissioners, Office of the Administrator, Schuylkill County EMS, Pennsylvania Emergency Management, PA Department of the Health and the Center for Disease Control have been in constant communication.

The Schuylkill County Courthouse will continue to remain open, but the County Commissioners are recommending that the public refrain from seeking entry into the courthouse unless absolutely necessary.

Anyone who does not have official business or is visibly sick will be denied admission.
