Frank Staudenmeier, age 69, a lifelong resident of Ashland, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, FL with his wife Kate by his side.
Born in Ashland, July 30, 1950, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Madden) Staudenmeier of Ashland.
He was a 1968 Graduate of Immaculate Heart High School and attended Lehigh County Community College. He married his high school sweetheart, Kate, on May 12, 1973.
He served as a Schuylkill County Commissioner since 2002 and most recently was elected to serve another 4 year term beginning in January 2020. He was previously employed for 24 years for Electric Utilities Corporation.
Frank was most recently serving on the Board of Directors of the Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) and was Chairman of the Board from 2001 to 2003. During the time he was Board Chair the following projects were initiated: new Highridge Park Road Interchange (Exit 119) was dedicated by PennDOT to service the Highridge Business Park, Country Inn & Suites began construction, Wegmans acquired acreage and planned to construct a distribution center, and 9 additional projects to expand or develop business throughout the county occurred. He was the past President and member of the Board of Director for Schuylkill County United Way. Most recently he served on the Board of Directors of the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, Ashland Community Enterprises, and Schuylkill Community Action.
He served as President and Board Member of the Manufacturers Association of Mid-Eastern PA and was past president for the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce from 1998 - 1999. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Shamokin Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Council of Northeastern PA; Shamokin Downtown Revitalization Corporation; Shamokin Area Industrial Corporation; Schuylkill County Council of the Arts and the Lower Anthracite United Way. In 1993, Frank was named Schuylkill County Business Man of the Year for his work and Leadership as a PPL Executive.
Frank was recently inducted into the County Commissioner Association of Pennsylvania "Academy for Excellence." Frank was a member of the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool Organization (PCoRP) Board for 17 years and was the Board Chair for 13 years, which was the longest serving chair in PCoRP's 33 year history. He had recently been elected as Chairman of the County Commissioner’s Association of Pennsylvania Investment Committee and was also appointed to the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Counties Health Insurance Cooperative.
Frank was very passionate about youth activities in the community and was extremely active in coaching youth sports including serving as President and Manager of Ashland Teener League and Ashland Area Girls Softball Association and Secretary and Manager of Ashland Little League. He was also a member of the Ashland Kiwanis Club, Good Fellowship Club, and Ashland Elks Club. Frank was most passionate about his family and friends.
If Frank knew you for 50 years or 5 minutes he would smile, shake your hand, and call you "brother". He enjoyed all the great things life had to offer and he shared that enjoyment with his family every day.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Kathleen Ritro; two children, Stacey Staudenmeier of Ashland, and Scott Staudenmeier and his wife, Janelle, Frackville; four grandchildren, Mason and Brody, Ashland, and twins, Trevor and Ava, Frackville; a brother, John Staudenmeier and his wife Adora, West New York, NJ; 11 nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends. Preceding him in death, his sister, Mary Beth (Staudenmeier) Vollendorf.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland with Rev. Brian Miller officiating. Interment in St. Mauritius Cemetery, Ashland. Viewing 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, March 6 and 9:00-10:45 AM Saturday, March 7 both at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Betty Ryndock, 96, formerly of Minersville, passed away peacefully into the Arms of her Heavenly Father with her family by her side on Monday at Seton Manor.
Born on December 7, 1923 in Pottsville, she was one of twelve children of the late William Wilt Thompson and Marian Hammer Thompson. Betty was a 1942 graduate of Pottsville High School and worked in the garment industry for Phillips and Jones and the D&M Corporation.
She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Llewellyn, and enjoyed weekly Bible Study in her later years. Betty was an avid gardener and her beautiful variety of flowers were admired and enjoyed by many recipients.
She was married for 45 years to Adam Ryndock, who passed away in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a beloved infant son, four sisters, Nell Thompson, Marian Cheesebrough, Doris Kreps and Catherine Schaeffer, and six brothers, Robert, William, John, Paul, David, and Joseph Thompson.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty Mae Rada, wife of Richard, Schuylkill Haven; her son, Joseph Ryndock, husband of Linda, Boiling Springs; four grandchildren, Beth Rutman, wife of Jonathan , Ellicott City, Maryland, Jessica Nabavi, wife of Blake, Ardmore, Dr. Eric Ryndock, husband of Bethany, Mount Joy, and Jason Ryndock, Mechanicsburg; five great-grandsons, Charles, Samuel and William Rutman, Francis Nabavi and Sawyer Ryndock. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Livingston, wife of Ira, York; many nieces and nephews.
Betty glorified God every day in the way she lived her daily life and loved her family and friends. She will be forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until funeral services at 11:30 A.M. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, North Manheim Township. The family prefers donations to Friedens Lutheran Church, Box 248, 54 Church Road, Llewellyn, PA 17944.

Mary Yadinskie, 96, a fromer resident of Kulpmont and Sheppton, passed away Monday, March 2nd, 2020 at Ridgeview Healthcare & Rehab Center, where she was recently a guest.
Mary was born in Mt. Carmel, on June 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Mary Stelma.
She retired, having been employed as an attendant at the former Selingsgrove State School. Mary was currently a member of St. Joseph's Church in Sheppton,
Mary was preceded in death by brothers and sisters and by her husband, Joseph Yadinskie in 1987.
She is survived by two daughters, AnnaMay Kealy, of Zion Grove and Marie Bott, of Ocean City, NJ. A sister, Pearl Yodis, of Natalie, survives as do 2 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Joseph's Church in Sheppton, at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 10th, with Father Dominic Phan officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary's family from 10-11 AM at the church prior to mass.
Mary will be laid to rest alongside her husband at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, immediately following the mass.

Patricia J. “Trish” McGinley, 71, of Lehighton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, surrounded by her loving family in her home. She was the widow of the late Michael F. McGinley who passed away in 2008. Born on Feb. 17, 1949 in Middleport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Betty G. (Wertman) Kane. Trish was a 1969 graduate of Panther Valley High School. She worked in the local garment industry, last at the former Indigo Jeans in Lehighton and then worked as a housekeeper at the Sunny Rest Resort in Parryville. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill. Trish enjoyed photography, music and traveling with her sister Liz. She was an avid sports fan of high school, college and professional teams.
Surviving is a Daughter, Christine Edmondson and her companion Michael Hill of Tamaqua; Grandsons, Robert Christman of Tamaqua and Kyle Frantz of Harrisburg; a Great Granddaughter, Mia Christman; Brothers, John Kane and his wife Sandra of Nesquehoning, Robert Kane and his wife Linda of Parryville and Daniel Kane of Lehighton; Sisters, Elizabeth, wife of Everett Thompson of Summit Hill and Margaret, wife of James Dunn of Lansford; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Byron G. Hess Sr., 82, of New Ringgold, died Monday, March 2, 2020, in his home. He was the husband of Helen (Brunner) Hess. They were married on September 27, 1964 and celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Prior to retiring, he worked for the former Stroh and Schaefer Brewing Co., Fogelsville, for 27 years. Prior to that, he worked for the former Bethlehem Steel, Francis Deem Excavating, Paul German Excavating, and Sunoco gas station, South Tamaqua. Born in New Ringgold, he was the son of the late Earl Rodenbush and Arlene Hess. He was a member of Christ Church, McKeansburg. He was an Army veteran. Byron was a life member of the New Ringgold Fire Co., a member of the Little Acorn Hunting Club, New Ringgold, and past president of the former Andreas Fire Co. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he was an instructor for the Pa Game Commission Hunter-Trapper Education program for over 35 years. He enjoyed tractors and farming.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Byron Jr. and Michael, both of New Ringgold; a sister, Christine Minnich, of Coplay; nieces and nephew. Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 7, at Christ Church, 6 S. Race St., New Ringgold, PA 17960, with the Rev. Mrs. Sunny L. Stock officiating. Call 10-11am. Military honors administered by the Lehighton UVO. Private interment.
