18 Year Old Charged After Altercation with Gun in Pottsville


An 18 year old from Pottsville will be charged after an incident involving a gun in Pottsville.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven on April 4th, 2020 around 11:30pm, State Troopers came across a disturbance near the intersection of North 9th Street and West Norwegian Street in Pottsville.

Through an investigation, it was determined  that an unknown suspect was fled the scene and was in possession of a firearm.

The 18 year old suspect was located shortly thereafter and taken into custody without incident.

Troopers learned that the suspect had thrown a loaded firearm onto the street in an attempt to hide it from police.

An investigation into the disturbance at the start of the incident revealed the suspect had pointed the loaded firearm at multiple victims multiple times during the altercation.

The firearm was seized by State Troopers and charged will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Reiley's office.

The identity of the 18 year old suspect was not released.
