On Friday, the Ashland Police, Shenandoah Police, State Police from Frackville, and U.S. Marshals took a man with an outstanding warrant into custody in Girardville.
According to Ashland Police Chief Ger Daley, on Friday, April 24th, 2020, John Magdeburg, 41, of Wernersville, PA was taken into custody on East Mahanoy Avenue, Girardville, on an outstanding warrant after an incident in Ashland on March 31st, 2020.
Chief Daley said the original incident took place on North 9th Street where Magdeburg was causing a disturbance. He also smashed windows out of two seperate residences.
After multiple verbal commands were ignored by Magdeburg, and officers from Ashland and Butler Township attempted to take him into custody, he began to resist arrest causing an injury to the hand of one of the officers. Magdeburg also made multiple statements that "there was going to be a shooting and he was going to kill everyone in Ashland".
Ashland Police filed charges on Magdeburg for aggravated assault, resisting arrest, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and criminal mischief and obtained the warrant for his arrest.
After being taken into custody Friday, he was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Rossi and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.
