A man from Shenandoah was charged with assault and resisting arrest after he was found to have an active warrant during a traffic stop in Girardville earlier this week.According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Tuesday, April 21st, 2020, around 6:50am, a traffic stop was conducted in the 300 Block of North 2nd Street in Girardville,
A male passenger in the vehicle, Dillon Fogarty, 27, of Shenandoah was found to be wanted in Northumberland County.
While Fogarty was being taken into custody, he began to resist arrest and attempted to run.
A struggle continued to where the State Trooper took Fogarty to the ground and was able to take him into custody.
The Trooper reportedly received injuries to his hand while making the arrest.
Fogarty was taken into custody on the warrant and was also charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Fogarty was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, who set bail at $25,000 straight cash.
The driver of the vehicle, Emily Ferrari, 21, of Girardville was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
