Carmen L. "Minnow" Giacobbe, age 85, of Mahanoy City, died Tuesday morning at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation in Frackville. 

Born in Italy he was the son of the late Francis and Maria (Grazia De Giorgio) Giacobbe. 

Carmen came to the United States in 1937 and was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He worked in building construction but mostly in the local coal mines. He was an avid reader and loved to brighten everyone's day with a joke. He was a member of Mahanoy City American Legion Post 74 and was of the Catholic faith. 

He was preceded in death by a brother Joseph. 

Survivors include a son Francis "Frank" of Allentown, a daughter Vivian Bondura and her husband Eric of Wilmington NC and their mother Tessa Ebersole of Harrisburg, a niece Pam Antonio and 2 nephews Matthew and Stanley Sopko and many cousins in Italy and Australia. 

Contributions in Carmen's name to the Mahanoy City Public Library, 17 W. Mahanoy Ave. Mahanoy City PA 17948 or the American Cancer Society 101 W. Frack St. Frackville, PA 17931 would be appreciated by the family.

Isaiah Bethea, 26, passed away on Monday, April 20, in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia.

Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of Lawrence Bethea, Orange, New Jersey, and the late Katherine Myers.

In addition to his father, Isaiah is survived by four siblings, Lawrence Bethea, Minersville, Kyiana Bethea, Tampa, Florida, Nyasya Bethea, Minersville, and Sharice Bethea, Branch Township.

Services are private.

Kevin Nathan Stewart, age 57, of Pottsville, PA passed away Tuesday, April 28th, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Born in Pottsville, PA on October 22, 1962, he was the son of the late Alexander and Nancy (Hawley) Stewart.
Kevin was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1980. He first worked in the weights and scales division of PA State Police and later PENNDOT and then became the President and CEO at Pennsylvania Motor Trucking Association Camp Hill, PA.
Kevin was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Port Carbon, a member of the Mason's Pottsville Pulaski Lodge #216. He was a 2nd degree black belt in karate, a very active coach with his kids in the sports they played while growing up and also was an avid hunter, he loved riding motorcycles, and watching Philadelphia sports. Kevin was involved in government legislature and committees and mentoring people through out the nation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Kevin Nathan Stewart Jr., nephew Adam C. Kauffman, great niece Carter Paige Steranko.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 39 years Elizabeth L. (Kauffman) Stewart, Palo Alto; a son Brian Stewart and his wife Allison and expecting grandson on May 23rd, Bethlehem; a daughter Amanda Hollenbush and her husband Erik, Palo Alto; two sisters: Nancy Ellen Kimmel and partner Joe Yost; and Cindie and her husband Robby Vidal; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Norman and Doris Kauffman Sr; brothers-in-law Norman and Carla Kauffman Jr and David Kauffman; sisters-in-law: Deniece and Scott Krater, Lorie and Dave Steranko, and Becky Berger and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services and interment will be held private due to the pandemic situation and there will be a memorial service announced at a later date.

Emily Stauffer, 101, a former resident of Zion Grove and Scranton, passed away Monday, April 27th, at Stoneridge Poplar Run in Myerstown, where she had resided for the past several years.

Emily was born in Zion Grove, on February 2, 1919, a daughter of the late Mame (Mensinger) and William Mummey. After graduating high school, she married her husband, the late Victor Stauffer and they moved to and lived in the Scranton area for many years.

A lifelong homemaker, Emily and Victor then relocated to the Myerstown area after his retirement, where they continued to enjoy 79 years of marriage until his passing in December of 2018.

Emily was fond of writing poetry, playing cards and enjoying the social environment at Stoneridge.

In addition to her husband Victor, Emily was preceded in death by a brother Roy and by sisters, Janet and Florence.

She is survived by her two sons, Ronald Stauffer, of Reading, and Jack Stauffer, of Florida, along with her brother, Allen Mummey, of Zion Grove.

Emily will also be missed by 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews.

In accordance with current regulations regarding public gatherings, Emily will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Zion Grove, following a private funeral service for her immediate family.
