Injured Gilberton Man and 12 Year Old Flee Scene of Interstate 81 Crash

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville say a man fled the scene of a crash with a 12 year old on Interstate 81 over the weekend.

According to Troopers, the crash occurred on Interstate 81 Southbound near Mile Marker 138 in Kline Township near McAdoo around 1:50pm.

Police say Juan-Carlos Martinez-Galeano, 37, of Gilberton was travelling southbound with a 12 year old passenger when he lost control of his Ford Explorer for unknown reasons.

The vehicle spun, striking an embankment causing the it to roll over, striking a PennDOT sign and coming to a final stop on it's roof in the middle of the southbound lanes.

As fire personnel arrived on scene, Martinez-Galeano and the 12 year old passenger fled the scene and were picked up by a passing motorists.

Both victims later arrived at Lehigh Valley Hospital East in Pottsville where they were treated.  Martinez-Galeano was suspected of suffering serious injuries and was treated for a head wound.

Assisting police at the scene of the crash were members of the McAdoo Fire Company.
