According to Ashland Police, on Sunday, May 17th, 2020, around 7:50am, Officer Daniel Weikel was dispatched to 819 W. Centre St. for a disturbance.
The caller told dispatch that the male in Apartment #303 was yelling and threatening people.
Officer Weikel arrived on scene and spoke with the caller who stated that the male, later identified as Nathan Wood, was currently in his apartment and still yelling.

Officer Weikel went up to the apartment and could hear the male yelling that he is going to kill people.
The officer knocked on the door and the male, identified as Nathan L. Wood, 38, opened the door and immediately attacked Officer Weikel.
Weikel deployed a tazer device and after it had no effect on Wood, he attacked the officer again prompting Weikel to call for back up.
After a brief struggle in the hallway, Weikel was able to subdue Wood when the original caller and the building maintenance worker, assisted. At this time Butler Twp. Chief Ed Tarantelli arrived assisted Officer Weikel in handcuffing and securing Wood.
Wood was transported to the Ashland Police station and charged with Aggravated Assault on a police officer, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Endangerment and Simple Assault.
Wood was arraigned by on call District Justice Bayer and given $10,000 unsecured bail and released to his father's house in Mahanoy City.
