Paul J. (Wojtukiewicz) Whitecavage Sr., 91, died peacefully at home in Shenandoah Heights after a long battle with numerous health issues. Born in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late John and Pauline (nee Ripka) Wojtukiewicz.
Paul served Honorably in the United States Army (Korea) and after discharge, transitioned into building bridges in the construction industry where he worked his way up from Laborer to Carpenter to Foreman, and finally, to Superintendent. He was a member of Divine Mercy (formerly Annunciation B.V.M.) Catholic Church in Shenandoah, PA. He was a fan of Penn State Football, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Flyers. In his prime, Paul was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. A family man, Paul enjoyed time spent with his close-knit and extensive family including his beloved Boxers! All were welcome at the Whitecavage table and with 7 kids there were always friends and family for dinner. Paul and his wife Mary enjoyed cooking and always had enough to share! Holidays at the Whitecavage residence were always crowded and fun creating great memories for all.
Paul was preceded in death by his siblngs, Johnny Whitecavage, Stevie Whitecavage, Mary Burdulas , Lottie Kosopod , Stella Slatick, Joesphine Zukie , and Anna Piekarski. He is survived by his sister, Bertha Kosopod.
Paul was the beloved husband of the late Mary T. (nee Hand) Whitecavage and beloved father of 5 sons and 2 daughters. Paul Whitecavage Jr. of Shenandoah and his children, Courtney wife of Cole Fasnacht, Schuylkill Haven and Corey, Frackville, Kelsey and Calia, Shenandoah. William Whitecavage and wife Cheryl, Ringtown and their children Jared, Ashland, Aaron, Ringtown and Hannah San Francisco CA. James Whitecavage and wife Gina, Ringtown and children, Megan wife of Vinnie Alessi, St.Clair, Jesse and Gabe, Ringtown and Nick, St. Clair. Michael Whitecavage and wife Maria, Shenandoah and their children, Chris and Ang , Shenandoah and Shaina and Nate Ringtown. Patti wife of Myron Hannis, Shenandoah, and their child Nicole, wife of Tim Hysock, Frackville. Ellen wife of Ray Guers, and their children, Kyle and Riley, Shenandoah Heights. John Whitecavage and wife Desirea, Shenandoah and children Vanessa, Shenandoah, Derrick and Dillon. Paul has nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul K. Scheib, Sr., 58, of Tower City, passed away Wednesday, April 29th at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.
Born in Lykens, December 23, 1961, a son of the late Lawrence and Betty Trego Scheib.
Paul was a 1980 graduate of Williams Valley High School. He was employed by Guilford Mills, Pine Grove for over 20 years, he was last employed by Metal Industries.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Tower City, and the Tower City Fire Company. He enjoyed gaming, his grandchildren, being in the outdoors and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Tyson Fidler and Destiny Scheib; three brothers, Larry Timothy and Aaron Scheib.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Karen Vecero Scheib; eight children, Paul Scheib, Jr., (Kristy), Millersburg; Greg Scheib (Ashley), Tower City, Yolanda Thomas (Henry), Harrisburg, Yvette Fidler, Muir, Joseph Scheib, Tower City, Ryan Scheib (Cora), Tower City, Laura Scheib, Tremont and Richard Scheib, Tower City; a brother, Daniel Scheib (Denise), Tower City; two sisters, Barb Miller (John), Tower City and Jeanine Blyler (Lennie), Jonestown. 20 grandchildren.

Betty L. Hetherington, 85, of Ringtown, Pa and a resident of Laurels Senior Living Community, Hazleton, Pa, passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, April 28th at the Laurels.
Born on August 25th, 1934 in Lightstreet, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Josephine “Selock” Keller.
Betty was a homemaker and also worked alongside her husband, Jack on the family farm in Ringtown, Pa. She was a devoted member of the Aurand United Methodist Church in Ringtown and was a member of the former Ladies Polyanna Class.
Besides her parents, she was preceded by her husband, John “Jack” Hetherington in 2015, 1 sister, Janet Shafransky in 2018, and 1 grandson, Nick Careyva in 1996.
Surviving are 5 daughters, Jacquelyn Hemperly with Keith – Lebanon, Pa, Karen Smarkanic with Michael – Frackville, Pa, Betsy Careyva with Patrick Loftus – Ringtown, Pa, Jill Careyva with Edward – Ringtown, Pa, and Amy Davis with Drew – Stroudsburg, Pa, 1 brother, MSGT James Keller – Gambrills, Md, 1 sister, Shirley Loucks – Broomall, Pa, 9 grandchildren, Joseph, Kristy, Rochelle, Beth, Mark, Sarah, Jeffrey, Liam, and Rylee, 4 great grandchildren, Alivia, Makenna, Claire, and Emmalyn, and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 5th in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Ringtown, Pa, officiated by Pastor Craig Zimmerman.

Born on April 18th, 1948 in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late John and Martha “Longenberger” Gilbert.
Gene worked for Wilbert Vault Company in Ringtown, Pa for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Polish American Fire Company in Shenandoah, the Ringtown Fire Company, and the Knights of Columbus - Francis Cardinal Brennan Council 618 in Shenandoah. Gene also loved hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, Gene was preceded by 4 sisters, Elizabeth Pitts, Rita Gilbert, Gladys Houser, and Virginia Horne.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Linda “Swartz” Gilbert, 1 daughter, Julia Gilbert – Shenandoah, 1 sister, Ruth Rupert with Paul – Shoemakersville, Pa, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will take place on Tuesday, May 5th at 10:30am in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Ringtown, Pa officiated by Pastor Mindy Heppe.
