Barbara J. Fisher, 67 of Pottsville died Friday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.
She was born March 26, 1953 in Bath, a daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Binder Hoppes.
Throughout her life Barbara worked at various textile factories in the area.
Barbara was a member of Bible Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, Schuylkill Haven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Fisher; 3 brothers, Darwin, Charlie and Rich Hoppes.
Surviving are 3 children, Patsy Wingle and her husband, William, Sr.; Schuylkill Haven; Earl Lins and his wife Christina, Pottsville; Karen Brideson and her husband, Brandon, New Philadelphia; 6 grandchildren, William Wingle, Jr., and Kyle Wingle, Ava and Ian Lins, Logan and Lilianna Buccieri; 1 great granddaughter, Amelia Wingle; 2 sisters, Shirley Ritzko, Pottsville; Rosemarie Miller, Port Carbon; a brother, Raymond Hoppes, Orwigsburg; nieces and nephews.
Services will be private of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with Rev. Doug Schwenk officiating. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Bible Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, 314 S Margaretta St. Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania 17972, or Operation Christmas Child C/O Samaritan's Purse P.O. Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Cressona Cemetery, Cressona.

Herbert R. "Herbie" Welsh, well known PIAA referee of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2020, as a guest of Maple Shade Living Center, Nesquehoning at the age of 82 years.
Born Sunday, May 1, 1938 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania the son of the late Herbert and Catherine (Hoffman) Welsh. He was also predeceased by; sisters, Joan Kurcharick, Jacqualine Jewels.
Herbie is survived by; beloved wife of 58 years Annetta (Lisciana) Welsh; daughter, Michelle Stelmack and her husband Mark of New Tripoli; grand children, Kyle Stelmack and his fiancee Morgan Yackey of Scranton, and Tyler Stelmack of Pittsburgh.
A graduate of Tamaqua High School, Herbie was an accomplished athlete. Herbie, expanded his love of sport to that of an accomplished and sought after football and basketball referee. He officiated high school sports for over 56 years, (1961-2017) in all of North East Pa. affiliated with District 11 and officiated NCAA division II and III college basketball for 27 years. Herbie served as PIAA Male Officials Representative for 25 yrs.,district chairman of the Cross Country and Track and Field championships and on the PIAA Board of Directors for three terms. He and Annetta were fixtures at league, district and state events.
Herbie worked as a Project Manager/Estimator for EOC for 55 years. He was a representative for the Insulators and contractors union. Herbie served honorably as a member of the Army National Guard.
A member of St. John XXIII R.C.C .of Tamaqua, East End Fire Company. Herbie coached the Knee-Hi football Giants in the 1960's. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame's for the Lehigh Valley, Carbon County and Tamaqua High School.
Never one to sit, Herbie played tennis, ran, worked out daily, and looked forward to spending long summer days at the Bungalow Pool in Tamaqua. Herbie reveled in following his grandsons athletic careers at Northwestern Lehigh, and was an ardent fan of all Tamaqua Sports and it's youth.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated from St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
Interment St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

James F. Courtnye, Jr. 68, passed away after a lengthy illness, Wednesday April 29, 2020 at UPMC Hospital in Harrisburg. Born in Philadelphia on July 21, 1951. He was a 1969 graduate of Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia. He resided most of his life in the Harrisburg Area. He was of the Catholic Faith and was very devoted to The Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary. He loved to watch sports: football, baseball, hockey and basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Courtnye, Sr and Elizabeth Courtnye née Scullion.
He is survived by a daughter, Aipril wife of Christopher Abner, Massachusetts, 3 sisters, Mary Beth wife of Edward O’Donnell, Jr, Ashland, Kathleen wife of Gerald Campomizzi, Ashland, Doris Jean, widow of Brian Calderwood, Philadelphia. 2 Brothers George Courtnye, and his spouse Antoine Jones, Philadelphia and Joseph Blazejewski and his wife Susan, Philadelphia.
Also 3 grandchildren, Taylor, Isabella, and Nicholas. Nieces, nephews, cousins and his Caseworker and Dear friend, Pat Hoffman, Harrisburg.
