Ashland Man Wanted for Assault and Cruelty to Animals

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are investigating an incident that involved an alleged assault and hitting a dog with a bat.

According to Troopers, on Saturday, around 5:15am, Daniel Leary, 41, of Ashland confronted and threatened another man with a metal baseball bat in the 1500 Block of Walnut Street in Ashland.

Leary reportedly struck the man twice with the bat causing injuries to his upper right arm and left hand.  Leary also hit the man's dog with the bat.  Leary then pushed the man out of the home and fled the scene.

State Police have prepared criminal charges against Leary for Aggravated assault, cruelty to animals, and other related charges.

An arrest warrant was issued by on-call Magisterial District Judge Reiley.
