Child Found in Car After Woman Overdoses in Rush Township

A child is safe after being found in a car with an unresponsive female as a result of an overdose.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Sunday, June 21st, 2020 around 9:00pm, Troopers responded to the area of Holly Road and Pine Creek Drive in Rush Township for a report of an overdose.

Three people that had driven by, noticed a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the roadway with the passenger side door open and no driver.

A closer look, led the people to find a New Philadelphia woman, unresponsive in the backseat of the vehicle along with a 3 year old child.

EMS responded and after several doses of Narcan, the woman became responsive.

The child was taken into custody by a family member and was not injured during the incident.

The woman was taken to an area hospital and State Police will be filing charges of endangering the welfare of a child through Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer's office.
