Man Flown After Norwegian Township Crash on Tuesday

A crash on Tuesday in Norwegian Township is believed to be caused by a medical issue.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred around 3:30pm on Peach Mountain Road in Norwegian Township.

Police say Michael Christy, 52, of Schuylkill Haven was traveling north on Peach Mountain Road when he traveled off the east berm and down an embankment striking several trees.

Christy's Chevrolet Sonic came to a rest against some trees.

Christy was able to get out of the vehicle and collapsed before the vehicle burst into flames.

Christy was transported to a landing zone by Shenandoah EMS and transported by LifeFlight to Geisinger.

Assisting State Police at the scene were the Columbia Hose Co. of Saint Clair, New Castle Township Police, and Shenandoah EMS.
