North Schuylkill Graduates Receive Diplomas

The North Schuylkill School District Administration spent Saturday and Sunday evenings handing out diplomas to the graduating Seniors.

Due to Coronavirus restrictions, the North Schuylkill School District was unable to hold a proper graduation with all of the seniors and their families in one location all at the same time.

Challenged with the task of giving the seniors something special, Senior Advisors Nick Brayford and Amy Maziekas went to work and came up with a ceremony where the families would still see their students in their caps and gowns and still receive their diplomas.

Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, the 139 seniors arrived at Spartan Stadium in 10 minute intervals.

Each Senior wore their caps and gowns, walked across the football field with "pomp and circumstance" playing over the PA system.  Families were able to watch as each graduate was met by School Board President Charles Hepler at the 50 yard line to receive their diploma.  Superintendent Dr. Robert Ackell, High School Principal Ken Roseberry, and High School Vice Principal Liza Ulceski, were also in attendance to congratulate the graduates.

Angela Hannon, Frackville, whose daughter Savannah was one of the graduates. "We are so grateful that we had what we had, under these circumstances. The district tried their very best to give these kids some sort of a normal ceremony."

A virtual graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020 at 7:00pm that will be proceeded by Senior parade that will take place between 3:00pm and 6:00pm and travel through all the communities of the school district.
