As part of Pride Month, Mikaela Gavaletz, a Pottsville resident, has taken the initiative to bring the community together in Schuylkill County to enjoy a day of music, food trucks, distinguished speakers and a cavalcade of Drag performers from most of the surrounding Counties.
Gavaletz said she could no longer be silent on the many issues that the Gay and Transgender community suffer.
The celebration will take place at Pottsville's Gen. George Joulwan East Side Park and Amphitheater on Saturday, June 27th, 2020.
With a basis to educate, the celebration will included speakers:
1:00pm - Maria Sanelli - a professor from Kutztown University, author, Education Consultant and Director of the Frederick Douglass Institute
2:00pm - Dani Kilcullen - a 14 year old representative speaking on behalf of the Trans Youth Community
4:00pm - Matt Haslam - A Schuylkill County resident who has a strong voice as an advocate for the LGBTQ+ Community and is an activist representing “Powered by Rainbows”, “The Pennsylvania Equality Project” and “The Schuylkill County LGBTQ Club”.
The event will conclude with a performances by Drag Queen and Drag King Performers.
14 performers will be on hand including "Miss Gay Pennsylvania" and Ms Divinity Cruzz "Miss Gay PA", from Lehigh County.
Food Trucks will be available, attendees should wear their pride colors, and COVID-19 Safe Precautions will be encouraged.
