City of Pottsville Provides Updates on Progress Avenue Restoration Project

On Thursday, the City of Pottsville provided an update on the Progress Avenue Restoration Project.

According to Mayor James T. Muldowney, the city has announced that all Federal and State funding is now in place to begin repairs to the Progress Avenue culvert that was damaged by flooding in August of 2018.

City officials and administration are working closely with project Engineers to secure the required state permits and property easements that must be executed with adjoining property owners.

City Engineer, Alfred E. Benesch & Company is completing the details of the bid package.

The joint cooperation of FEMA and PEMA has made it possible for the City to advertise and solicit bids for the project beginning in August 2020.

Bid contracts will be awarded in September of 2020, provided all necessary safety measures are in place prior to and during the construction phase.

Once the project begins, updates and a timeline will be posted to the city's web site, www.city.pottsville.pa.us.
