A Maryland man is facing homicide charges after a fatal crash near the Schuylkill / Carbon County line on Monday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Lehighton, the crash occurred on the morning of Monday, July 13th, 2020, in the area of the Hauto Volunteer Fire Company, located at 205 Stock Street, Nesquehoning.

Police say Jeremy White, 37, of Temple Hills, Maryland was traveling on Route 54 in a Hyundai Tuscon, and Terry Angel Gonzalez, 30, of Lansford was traveling on Route 54 in the opposite direction on a motorcycle.

Through an investigation by Troopers from the Lehighton Barracks as well as the Troop N Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit, it was determined that White crossed over into the opposing lane of travel striking Gonzalez head on.

Gonzalez was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Carbon County Coroner's Office.

Further investigation revealed that White's SUV contained drug paraphernalia and an odor of marijuana.

White was taken into custody under the suspicion of DUI.

Charges of Homicide by Vehicle while DUI were approved by the Carbon County District Attorney's Office.  White was also charged with driving without a license, disregard of a traffic lane, careless driving, and reckless driving.

White was locked up in Carbon County Prison on $30,000(10%) cash bail.  White was later released on Tuesday after posting bail.
