Thomas G. Hughes, Sr., 89, of Annville, and formerly of Pottsville, passed away on Thursday morning in Cedar Haven Healthcare Center, Lebanon.
Born in Pottsville, on May 14, 1931, he was a son of the late Walter E. and Laura E. (Pappert) Hughes.
Tom was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Palmyra, and former member of St. John R.C.C., Pottsville, and its Holy Name Society.
He was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School and he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Tom was employed at the A&P Grocery Stores in various positions, including manager for 25 years and then with the State of Pennsylvania for 22 years, retiring in 1998 as an accountant.
He was a member of the Pottsville American Legion and a member of the former Greenwood Hill Fire Company.
Tom was a wonderful husband and father and had a heart of gold, helping anyone in need. He was very caring, generous, and a faithful friend and blood donor. He especially loved traveling and was an avid reader and bowler and enjoyed roller skating in his earlier days.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings, brothers: Anthony, Vincent, John, Joseph, and Leo; sisters: Anna, Eve, and Louise.
Tom is survived by his wife, Anne (Ryan) Hughes, to whom he was married 58 years; two sons; Thomas G. Hughes, husband of Donna M. , of Pottsville; and Robert A. Hughes, of Annville; grandchildren: Robert A. Herndon, James N. and Rebecca M. Hughes, and Naomi C. McFarland, wife of Alex: great grandchildren: Alexandria and Donovan; and several nieces and nephews.
Services and interment with military honors in St. John #2 Cemetery are private at the convenience of family.

Charles J. “Pabby” Antonelli, 72, of Forestville, Cass Township, passed away on Thursday at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Chernosky Antonelli. He was a 1965 graduate of Cass Township High School. He was employed by the former Tamaqua Cable Company (now Prysmian Draka Cableteq) until retiring.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, now known as Holy Family Parish of Minersville, and was an active member of the Minersville Fish and Game. He enjoyed spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren, and playing cards.
Preceding him in death was the love of his life and his wife of 46 years, the former Mary Bohr, on October 17, 2019.
Charles is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Hart (spouse, Neal), Cass Township, April Moran (spouse, Paul), Norwegian Township, and Crystal Gillis (spouse, Michael), Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Aidan Moran, Katelyn Moran, Emily Hart, and Jackson Gillis; siblings, Craig Antonelli (spouse, Patricia), Newtown, Reilly Township, and Donna Bernasz (spouse, William), Forestville; sisters-in-law Rose Bohr, Sacramento, CA, Sharon Krieg, Wyomissing, and Evelyn Reilly, Forestville; brother-in-law William Bohr (spouse Belinda), Sinking Spring; nephews Brian Bohr, John Reilly, and Edward Pollman.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Wednesday from 7:00 A.M. Visitors are expected to follow CDC guidelines regarding wellness and social distancing. Visitation will end promptly at 8:45 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, North Manheim Township.

Violet I Frey, beloved mother and grandmother. 91 years of age, of South Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Hometown Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr. in Hometown.
Born Friday, November 9, 1928 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. the daughter of the late Leroy and Stella (Kunkel) Schaeffer. She was also predeceased by her husband Walter Tomas Frey; sister, Grace Serfass.
Surviving are daughter, Lori A. Kammerdiener and her husband Robert with whom she resided; granddaughter, Erika Mullin; niece, Cara Serfass.
A graduate of Tamaqua High School, Violet retired from the former Atlas Powder Co. of Reynolds after 42 years of service. Violet enjoyed her home and spending time with her family.

Jeanette (Thomas) O'Gorman, of North Lehigh Street Tamaqua, passed away on Saturday July 11, 2020 as a guest of the Hometown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 92 years.
Born in Pottsville the daughter of the late John and Anna (Tarconish) Thomas. She was also predeceased by; husband, Robert F. O'Gorman on August 2, 2004; son, Robert O'Gorman on August 16, 2007; sister, Agnes Thomas; brother, Edward Thomas.
A graduate of Blythe Twp. High School, Jeanette was a floor lady in the textile industry. She was a member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua; however if you asked Jeanette where she had been lately she would reply "at her second church, the casino". Jeanette was very independent and always was the chauffeur.
She is survived by; daughter, Jane A. Dietrich and her husband Jurgen of Kernersville, NC.; daughter-in-law Cindy O'Gorman of California; grandchildren; Sean and Connor O'Gorman, Andreas Dietrich and his wife Christina, Heidi James and her fiancee Michael Rowland; six great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Thomas of Tamaqua, John Thomas and his wife of Whitehall; many nieces and nephews.

John J. Pizzico, 83, of Minersville, passed away Thursday at his home.
Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Antonelli Pizzico.
He was a graduate of Minersville High School and was retired from the Van Heusen Corporation. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Minersville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-father George Walters Jr. and a brother Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Carol Koch; a daughter Laurie Tobin and her husband Brian, North Carolina; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Amburn, Matthew Tobin and Brian Tobin Jr.; 4 great grandchildren, Madelyn Amburn, Tucker Tobin, Luke Tobin and Collin Tobin; 3 sisters, Anna Butcavage, Minersville, Rose Marie Minder and her husband Raymond, Forestville and Georgine Walters, Minersville; nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM from the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 8AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in St. Barbara’s Cemetery, Branch Twp.
