Born in Tamaqua, PA on October 3, 1927, Evelyn was the daughter of the late John Charles and Bertha (nee Shollenberger) Betz. A 1945 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she worked as a trimmer in several local garment factories and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Worker Union. She had been employed at the former Atlas Powder Company where she met her beloved husband Herbert in 1949. Evelyn was a devout active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua for over 60 years. She both sang in the choir and volunteered with the kitchen crew at the church. Evelyn loved to read and tell jokes. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and traveling with her husband.
In addition to her husband, Herb, Evelyn is survived by sons, Larry H. Curvey and his wife, Stephenie of Tamaqua, James L. Curvey and his wife, Beverly of Brockton, PA, and Jon A. Curvey and his wife, Maria of Andreas, PA; daughter, Diane E. Chicanavage and her husband Mark of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew, Brianne, Jennifer, Samantha, Jon, Jr., Heather, and Lacey; great grandchildren, Sierra, Ethan, Lance, Scarlett, Emma, Ava, and Max; sister-in-law, Doris Nelson; and nephews and nieces. Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Darryl Kensinger officiating. Call 9-11 AM Tuesday in the church. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, 503 West Broad Street, Tamaqua will follow the services.

Isaac T. Evans, 85, of Coaldale, PA died on Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Whitehall, PA. He was the husband of Ann (nee Murphy) Evans to whom he was married 6 years.
Born in Coaldale, PA on May 24, 1935, Isaac was the son of the late Isaac J. and Naomi (nee Lishman) Evans. A 1952 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, he graduated in 1957 from Penn State University having earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Isaac served in the Navy and was a member of the Penn State Alumni Associaton.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by son, Isaac K. Evans and his wife Lynn of North Liberty, Iowa; daughter, Michelle D. Evans of Chatanooga, TN; step son, Michael O’Connell and his wife, Genevieve of Coaldale; step daughters, Michelle Smeyne and her husband, Richard of Elkins Park, PA, and Melissa Hawk and her husband, David of Nesquehoning, PA; grandchildren, Erin and Audrey; and 6 step grandchildren.
Isaac was predeceased by his first wife, Dean (nee Hutchins) Evans and his sister, Inez McClelland.

Leroy A Geist, age 71, of Hegins, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his residence.
He was born on Thursday, May 12, 1949, in Hegins Twp, a son of the late Russell P Geist and the late Betty M Lesher Geist.
He had worked for Gold Mills, Pine Grove and then worked for Tower Sales, Tower City, until becoming disabled.
He attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Weishample.
Leroy enjoyed antique cars, collecting clocks, camping, and spending time with his dog Snickers and his family.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia "Dolly" A Snyder Geist, to whom he was married for 49 years.
He is also survived by a daughter, Angela E Harig and her husband Howard of Schuylkill Haven; a granddaughter, Briana L Maurer of Girardivlle; a step grandson, Chad M Harig of Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Betty L Searles and her husband Don of Garner, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Weishample, on Monday, August 3, 2020, at 11:00 am, with Deacon Larry Lonergan officiating.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the church.
Burial will be made in Fountain Community Cemetery.
