A fire destroyed a garage and damaged nearby homes on Wednesday afternoon in Saint Clair.
Just after 4:00pm, emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of 4 West Patterson Street, Saint Clair for a working garage fire.
The fire was quickly upgraded to a 2nd alarm after the fire spread to the rear of a nearby home.
As firefighters arrived they dealt with arcing wires that had caught fire and had fallen into the street.
Officials at the scene said a neighbor rescued a resident who was unable to find his way out of the home as it filled with smoke.
The fire also caused heat damage to the rear of several homes on South 2nd Street. In all, a total of 8 homes were damaged.
No word on what caused the fire.
