Carmine David Colasante. 66, peacefully departed this world at home on August 7, 2020 with his wife, Carol Ward-Colasante, by his side.
Carmine spent his youth in Bethlehem, PA and most of his adult life in Pine Grove, PA, with his best friend, love of his life and wife of 41 years.
Carmine graduated from Villanova University and received his Masters of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary, St. Davids, PA. (formerly Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary). Despite an early desire to teach, his innate entrepreneurial talents led him to buying, renting and selling real estate, antiques and collectibles.
Cooking was one of his passions and he was master chef of the house accompanied by his “sous chef” wife.
He was an avid gardener, raised chickens and tended his fruit bearing trees and bushes, always sharing excess bounty with friends and family. Carmine was the "bad uncle" to his closest nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Barb. He teased them, taught them to fish, as well as schooled them on how to save a penny and get a good deal.
Carmine also had a deep concern for the environment, installing a large solar system at his home, recycling in earnest and he always said “don’t forget to turn off the lights” and “don’t throw that out, we may need it one day.”
Carmine never forgot his spiritual roots, starting with his Catholic upbringing and his decision to attend a Baptist Seminary to his many charitable works.
He bravely met the challenges of dealing with three different types of cancer in his final seven years of life, and came out of the experience with an even stronger faith in God before his passing.
Carmine is predeceased by his father, Anthony Colasante., M.D., mother, Jean Colasante., D.D.S., and sister Gina. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his siblings, Blaise and wife Georgia, Bethlehem; David and wife Barbara, Newtown Square; Ona, Hawthorne, Fla and Amy Sacchi and husband John, Reading, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was also close to his “adopted” Ward family from Mahanoy City/Barnesville.
Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice of Central PA.
Funeral arrangements will be private at the request of the family.
