Born in Minersville, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Hahn Bettinger. She attended the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parochial School and also attended Minersville High School. She was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry.
She was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, now known as Holy Family Parish of Minersville. She was also a member of ILGWU.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years, Frank Santai, on August 3, 1996; two brothers, Thomas Bettinger, Sr. and Joseph Bettinger; a sister, Loretta Polinchock.
Mary is survived by three children, Mary Washko (spouse, Michael), Chadds Ford, Thomas Santai (spouse, Catherine), Spring Glen, and James Santai, Marlin; six grandchildren, John Washko (spouse, Kristin), Michele Washko (spouse, Dick Baublitz), Cathy Santai (spouse, Safwat Gassis), Bernadine McNamara (spouse, Kevin), Amy Santai and Brett Santai (spouse, Christine); twelve great-grandchildren, Shane and Olivia Washko, Alex, Xavier and Emanuel Gassis, Connor, Bennett, Lukas and Finley McNamara, Fitzpatrick Santai, Collin and Aileen Santai; nieces and nephews.
The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 7:00 A.M. Visitation will end promptly at 8:30 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. After a gathering of family and friends, interment will be at 1:00 P.M. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Visitors and attendees are expected to follow CDC guidelines regarding wellness and social distancing.

Nelson J. Pauly, Born in Branch Township on March 4, 1929, he was a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Secula Pauly. He was a graduate of Reilly Township High School. After serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he worked as an electronics technician at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation and at the former Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown. He later worked in the service department for Sears.
He was a member of the former St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Branchdale
Preceding him in death was a son, Richard J. Pauly, in 2019. The last of seven children, he was also predeceased by four brothers, Lawrence Pauly, Louis Pauly, Francis Pauly, and Lambert Pauly; two sisters, Virginia Burgess and Mary Grieff.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Geraldine Smith; ten children, Marie Weikel (spouse, James), Pottsville, Gregory Pauly, Branchdale, Francis Pauly, Branchdale, Edward Pauly, Branchdale, Edwin Pauly, Minersville, Christopher Pauly (spouse, Mandy), Branchdale, Christine Neiswender (spouse, Joseph), Minersville, Eloise Hinkle (spouse, Gary), Minersville, Frederick Pauly, Minersville, and Philip Pauly, Branchdale; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Committal with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township, at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, August 17.

Born Friday, January 16, 1931 in Still Creek. the son of the late Bertram and Harriet (Haldeman) Titus. Edward was also predeceased by his daughter, Kimberly Sianis in January 2010; daughter-in-law, Sue Hendrickson in February 2020; brothers John and George Titus; sister, Velma (Titus) Kashmer; step father, John "Bronc" Derr.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan K. (Becker) Titus; daughter, Lynne K. Titus of Kutztown, son Edward Titus and his wife Tina of Tamaqua; brothers, Robert "Bucky" Derr and his wife Rose of Tamaqua; grandchildren Chris, Eddie, Emily and Zoe; Damian Fritz, Allison and Gordy Tonkin his neighbors who always found an open door.
A 1950 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Bumpty served as class president. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Schwerman Trucking of Nazareth. Bumpty was a member of the Primitive Methodist Church of Tamaqua, and a longtime member of the American Hose Fire Co. and a social member of the South Ward Fire Company.
Bumpty was a Little League coach from 1975-1979 and an ardent supporter of his children and grandchildren's sports careers. He never missed their sporting events and could be found in the bleachers cheering, coaching and officiating. He was particularly proud of the 1978 Tamaqua Girls State Basketball Championship Team. Bumpty was an avid reader, loved fishing, hunting, The Boston Red Sox and telling stories about his many trips to the cabin in the Poconos. He also spent his retirement days puttering around doing little fix it jobs for family, friends and neighbors.

Rev. Eugene Harold Carls, 79, of Hazleton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 7th, 2020, following a two year illness.
Gene was born in Hazleton, on July 21, 1941, a son of the late Pearl (Schell) and Christopher Carls.
He was a graduate of the Anacostia High School in Washington DC and then went on to graduate from the Logos Bible Training Center in Pottsville.
Rev. Carls was the co-pastor and founder of Restoration Fellowship Ministries, which was established 35 years ago. He served the church up until 2018.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Carls in 1962.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the Rev. Angela (Ackerman) Carls, and by his children, Michael Carls; Cheryl Carls Fritz; Kathy Carls Niles; Julie Carls Enck; David Carls; Dale Carls and Tommy Carls.
He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Rev. Eugene will be laid to rest following private family services at the Nuremberg Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Sam Smucker of the Worship Center in Lancaster.
Rev. Eugene's family wishes to thank God for such a precious and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His loving heart took care and provided for not only his family but for his church congregation whom he loved dearly.

Jeanne R. Stauffer, 87, of Ringtown, passed away on Saturday, August 8th at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Lost Creek #2 on October 3rd, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Hartzell.
Jeanne worked many years for the Martin Dress Factory and Shenandoah Heights TV. She was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union, she was an avid bowler, and loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Besides her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Judith A. Syzdek and Marian Gradwell.
She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, William Stauffer, 1 son, William E. Stauffer with his companion Marge Ahrens – Sinking Springs, 1 daughter, Donna Palubinsky with Joseph – Ringtown, 1 brother, Ken Hartzell – Florida, 1 sister, Helen Sherakas – Pottsville, 5 grandchildren, Scott Palubinsky with Amy, Mark Palubinsky with Ashley, Alison Rizzo with John, Alicia Solomon with Justin, and Christopher Palubinsky with Alison. 11 great-grandchildren, Abby, Jackson, Ava, Mason, Luca, Enzo, Christian, Gabriel, Anna, Addy, and Alivia. Nieces and nephews also survive.
