Two Drivers Under the Influence Involved in Crash on Route 61; One Seriously Injured

One person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 61 on Sunday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred on Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 on Route 61 near the intersection with West Market Street in North Manheim Township near Orwigsburg.

Police say the two-vehicle crash occurred a Gary Baver, 35, of Auburn turned into the southbound lanes of Route 61 from West Market Street.

A second vehicle, driven by Timothy East, 27, of Schuylkill Haven entered the intersection from the opposite direction from the jug handle.

Both vehicles collided almost head on.

Baver was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to an area hospital.  East was not injured.

Police learned through an investigation that both drivers were under the influence at the time of the crash.

Both drivers will face charges.
