North Schuylkill has ceased practice for one of their varsity sports teams after one of their student athletes tests positive for COVID-19.
According to North Schuylkill Superintendent Dr. Robert Ackell, "A student athlete tested positive at the varsity level which prompted the district to cease operations for two weeks of that program. All students athletes in that program that came in contact with that positive player were put into a 14-day quarantine"
Superintendent Ackell said that the identity of the athlete would not be released due to HIPAA.
The district has contacted the Department of Health as well as their health provider, St. Luke's Health Network, and followed all protocols of their health and safety plan and their resocialization athletic plan to mitigate any future spread.
