Minersville Man Charged for Sexual Assault of Two Children

A Minersville man was locked up on Tuesday for the sexual assault of two children.

On Tuesday, September 1st, 2020, Troy Troup Jr., 28, of Minersville was taken into custody and charged with 2 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, 2 counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child, 2 counts of indecent assault, 2 counts of corruption of minors, and one count of indecent exposure.

According to Minersville Police Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers, the charges come after an investigation when Troup's girlfriend reported that she believed he was possibly sexually assaulting her two daughters, ages 12 and 9.

An interview of Troup by Minersville Police and Schuylkill Children and Youth offered no plausible explanation as to why the children would make the allegations against him.

On August 27th, 2020, the children were interviewed by the UPMC Children's Resource Center in Harrisburg, where both girls were interviewed and assessed individually.

The children described to investigators that Troup forced the girls into various sexual acts with him as well as exposing himself in front of them at their home on Delaware Avenue, Minersville.

Based on the facts presented, Minersville Police believe that Troup conducted a pattern of sexually predatory behavior including sexual assaults on both girls.

Troup was taken into custody on Tuesday, and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko who locked him up in Schuylkill County Prison on $150,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 8th, 2020 before Magisterial District Judge Plachko.
