Elizabeth H. Chinchar, 88, formerly of Tuscarora, PA, died on Sunday, September 6, 2020 in Coaldale, PA. She was the wife of the late John C. Chinchar who died in 1993. 

Born in Blythe Township, Schuylkill County, PA on July 8, 1932, Elizabeth was a daughter of the late John and Anna (nee Seary) McElvaney. She had worked for Tuscarora Sportswear and was Catholic. 

She is survived by daughters, Helen Faber and her husband, Kevin of Tuscarora and Elizabeth Steffy and her companion David Biasi of Tuscarora; grandchildren, Colby Chinchar of Lewistown Valley, PA, Miranda Chinchar of Lewistown Valley, Kevin Faber of Tuscarora, and Celena Steffy of Tuscarora; brother, Robert McElvaney of New Jersey; and sister, Sarah Sleptsky of Coaldale. Elizabeth was predeceased by son, James Chinchar and brothers, Joseph McElvaney, John McElvaney, James McElvaney, Thomas McElvaney, Richard McElvaney, and Francis McElvaney. 

Services will be held at 8 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Call 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Attendees are reminded of the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines and are kindly asked to wear a mask and observe physical distancing.

Thomas A. Letko
, 91, of Minersville, passed away in the presence of his family on Sunday at Schuylkill Center.

Born on March 20, 1929 in Duncott, Cass Township, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary Priscilla (Hulock) Letko. He graduated from Minersville High School in 1947. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 1989 after 30 years of service.

Tom was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville; and was also a member of the Minersville American Legion. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Tom was also well-known for his congenial personality and ever-present smile.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 56 years, the former Frances M. Carroll, in 2010; a daughter, Sabrina Fessler, in 1998. The last of eleven children, Tom was also predeceased by six brothers, Andrew, Stephen, John, Joseph, Anthony, and Vincent Letko; four sisters, Helen Hoffman, Anne Yoder Marazas, Eva Music and Margaret Moffitt.

Tom is survived by a daughter, Ronaleen Cuchara (spouse, Stephen), Orwigsburg; two grandchildren, Amanda Polynone (spouse, Andrew), Richland, and Christopher Fessler, Minersville; two great-granddaughters, Allison and Adelyn Polynone; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Tuesday from 6:00 A.M. Visitation will end promptly at 9:45 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Interment with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Visitors and attendees are expected to follow CDC guidelines.

Thomas F. Williams
, 82 of Pottsville, died Sunday at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

He was born June 21, 1938 in Pottsville a son of the late Francis and Ruth Butts Williams.

He was a 1956 graduate of Pottsville High School, a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, and a graduate of Penn State University with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.

He was Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War.

He was a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 26 years retiring for the Schuylkill Haven Barracks.

Tom was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, Fraternal Order of Police Philip Melley Lodge #65, Retired Pennsylvania State Police Association, and a life member of Yorkville Hose Fire Co. Pottsville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Williams, a brother, Dave Williams; 2 sisters, Nancy Lesher, and Kathy Krell.

Surviving are his wife, Judith Rehnert Williams, a son, Thomas J. Williams, Allentown; 2 grandsons, Tyler and Owen Williams; a sister, Darlene Wade, Port Carbon, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30AM Friday at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contribution in Tom's memory be made to St. John Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Anyone attending is aske to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
