Daniel J. Biscoe, 57, of New Philadelphia passed away, Monday September 7, 2020.

Born in New Philadelphia on August 31, 1963, he was the son of the late John and Sylvia (Jackstis) Biscoe.

Daniel was a retired IUOE Local 542 member.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Nora A. (Federico) Biscoe, three daughters, four grandchildren, one brother, and one nephew.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Robert Charles Maurer, Jr
, 73, of Pitman, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Robert was born in Pitman, PA on December 27, 1946, a son of the late Mabel (Carl) and Robert C Maurer.

He was employed as a sanitation worker and had also worked as a farmer for many years before working at Michael Foods.

He enjoyed reading, listening to music, watching TV and movies and daily bible reading. He also liked collecting wallets, looking at old farm equipment, sitting on the porch watching hummingbirds, chatting with coworkers at Michael Foods and mowing grass.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Maurer-Chatcho, wife of John Chatcho , of Pitman;
a step daughter, Erica Maurer of Pitman; a sister, Evelyn Bowman; and a sister-in-law Carolyn Maurer; as well as nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Shirley Zeigenfuse, Helen Kissinger and Connie Welker, one brother Ronald Maurer and a nephew Jeffery Maurer.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Zion E.C. Cemetery, Pitman.

Mary K. (Coleman) Arnold
, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, formerly of Tamaqua passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2020, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center, Divine Providence Hospice in Williamsport, Pennsylvania at 80 years of age.

Born Friday, June 28, 1940 in Coaldale the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Quinn) Coleman. She was also predeceased by her husband Russell T. Arnold on January 4, 1995; sister, Patricia Quinn.

Surviving are; daughter, Patricia A. Maradeo of Williamsport, with whom she resided; son, William T. Ryan and his wife Sheri of Lansford; brothers, Joseph Coleman and his wife Janet of Tamaqua, Patrick Coleman and his wife Micheline of Summit Hill; sisters, Barbara A. Karnish of Tamaqua, Judy Coleman of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Heather, Cassidy, Balee, Aeris, Gabriella; great grandchild, Decklan; ex son-in-law Nicholas Maradeo; many step grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive Mary.

Mary, attended St. Jerome Schools and was a longtime member of St. Jerome R.C.C. of Tamaqua before moving to Williamsport. She worked in the Textile Industry and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Mary was devoted to family, and will be greatly missed by all.

Eleanor “Ellie” Chappell
passed away on Sunday, September 6 with her husband, Clayton “James” by her side. She was born July 18, 1946. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Jean (Maurer) Oshman. She and her husband, Jim were blessed with 60 years of partnership, being married for 52 of them. She was a very active member of Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Gordon and enjoyed serving dinners and making Easter Candy there.

Ellie graduated from Ashland High School Class of 1964 and Ashland State School of Nursing. She practiced nursing for seven years in Ridley Park, PA. She then returned to Ashland and she and Jim purchased Snyder’s Ice Cream and Restaurant which she enhanced and operated for almost 30 years.
Always a nurse, she spent endless hours caring for her daughter Wendy and her in-laws and her mother and brother. She also had a passion for taking care of humans and animals in need of support. She was preceded in death by her daughter Wendy in 2019.

Surviving are her husband, Clayton “Jim”, sister, Michele wife of Michael Ambrose, brother, William Oshman. Nieces and Nephews. 

Services will be held on Saturday,Sept.12,2020 at 11:00 AM in Christ’s United Lutheran Church. Airport Road, Ashland,PA.

Francis M. “Frank” Garrity, 71, formerly of St. Clair, died Monday September 7, 2020, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, April 11, 1949, He was a son of the late Edward M. and Genevieve (Matuscavage) Garrity.

He was a 1967 graduate of Nativity BVM High School.


Frank served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He retired from Phillips Van Heusen and worked as Courier at Community Banks.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair and the Amvets.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Edward and Patrick Garrity; Nephew Christopher Garrity.

Surviving are his friend and caregiver Chris Palko of Middleport; sister Kathy Phillips and her husband Joe of Pottsville; brother John Garrity and his wife Barbara of St. Clair; brother Mark Garrity and his wife Dee of Lake Wynonah; Nieces and Nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St. St. Clair, PA 17970 with Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Clare of Assisi Memorial Fund at the above address. Eunice Lehatto
, mother, sister, and nana, 99 years of age, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Schuylkill Center Genesis Elder Care in Pottsville.

Born Wednesday, October 6, 1920 in Waskey Mill, Boutote County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank Roy, and Janie (Dollman) Carter. Eunice met her late husband Bernard John Lehatto while working for Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Company Plant in Baltimore MD during WWII as what would become known as "Rosie the Riveter" the iconic name given to women who worked in factories and shipyards during the war. Bernard passed away on Dec. 7, 1972. Eunice was also predeceased by; daughter, Bernadette Bennage; son, Richard Lehatto; sister, Nellie Hicock; brothers, Harold, Ray, and Edward Carter.

Surviving are son, Frank Lehatto and his wife JB of Tamaqua; sisters, Lois Flint and her husband Pat and Bernice Barger both of Virginia; son-in-law, Samuel Bennage of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Dr. Erin (Lehatto) Cipko and her husband Ricky Cipko, Andrew R. Lehatto and his wife Kylie, Brynn S. Lehatto and her fiance Ian Nicholls, Andrea McLaughlin and her husband Tom, Stephanie Reyes and her husband Mark, Tanya Hall and her husband Nick; great grandchildren, Caydence, Jocelyn, Collin Cipko; Austin, McKayla, Aaron McLaughlin; Blake, Logan, Darain, Bailey Reyes, Braeden, Natalie, Kailey Hall.

Returning to Tamaqua after marrying Bernard, Eunice raised her family while working at the former Tami Manufacturing for over 20 years, and then as the cook for the priests in residence at St. Jerome R.C.C.. Eunice was a graduate of Buchanan High School. She was a past president of the former Tamaqua Garden club, was an active member of the Hometown Garden Club, while belonging to the Catholic Women of St. Jerome.

Penny L. Schlorf, 69 years of age, formerly of 224 Orwigsburg Street Tamaqua, and now resident of the Majestic House passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.

Born Tuesday, June 26, 1951 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania. the daughter of the late Harry, and Clara (Baer) Krapf. She was also predeceased by; sister, Susan Seladones; brother, Harry J. Krapf.

Surviving are; her beloved husband of 45 years, Gustavus C. "Gus" Schlorf; daughter, Amy Friendy of Drums; brother, Bruce Krapf and his wife Diane of Tamaqua; care givers, Thomas and Lori Schlorf of Tamaqua. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews survive Penny.

A 1969 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Penny had worked for the former J.E. Morgan Knitting in the cafeteria, and currently worked for Koch's Turkey Farm of the Lewistown Valley. She had served as past president of the South Ward Fire Co. Ladies Aux., and was active in the Tamaqua Seniors. Penny enjoyed trips to the casino, playing bingo; however, her most precious event was time spent with her family.
