Five people were displaced early Sunday after a fire destroyed a home in Port Carbon.
Around 1:40am, emergency personnel were dispatched to 101 Pottsville Street in Port Carbon for a house fire.
Police Chief Joe Ferraro was first to the scene and reported heavy smoke coming from the 1st floor of the home and heavy fire from the second.
Ferraro was able to rescue a man and woman and an infant from the upstairs of the home and two males that were downstairs as fire crews arrived on scene.
A second alarm was struck calling in additional units as well a RIT team from Englewood.
It took several hours to bring the fire under control with most units being released from the scene around 4:15am.
As of 4:00am, there was no determination on a cause of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the victims.
