A man was taken to the hospital with injuries after a crash on Centre Street in Mahanoy City Wednesday morning.
Just before 10:00am, emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Rite Aid on Centre Street in Mahanoy City for a motor vehicle accident with a possible pedestrian struck.
As fire personnel and police arrived on scene, Centre Street was closed and the crash was changed to a motor vehicle accident with ejection with one patient and multiple vehicles involved.
According to personnel on the scene, the crash occurred as a Ford SUV was travelling east at a high rate of speed on Centre Street and crossing the center yellow line passing vehicles.
As the driver, a male who was not identified, approached the area of Rite Aid on Centre Street, the SUV struck a parked vehicle on the north side of the street causing the SUV to roll and eject the driver.
The SUV rolled back onto it's wheels before coming to a rest.
Three parked vehicles were damaged in the crash and the driver was transported to an area hospital with an unknown extent of his injuries.
Centre Street was closed for a period of time while the scene was cleared.
Mahanoy City Police continue to investigate.
