On Monday morning, the PIAA District XI approved extending the deadline to allow the rescheduling of the High School Football Championships.
This past weekend, the 1A and 3A District XI Football Championships were unable to held due to COVID-19.
During a typical year, if those championships were not able to be held by the following Monday of the scheduled game, the team that could not have participated would have to forfeit.
All four teams that were to compete which included Williams Valley, Tri-Valley, North Schuylkill, and Notre Dame of Green Pond all submitted letters to the District XI board requesting that their championships be allowed to reschedule.
That meeting was held and the board approved.
What does this mean? The deadline to have the games completed was extended to Saturday, November 28th, 2020.
The District XI 1A Football Championship between Williams Valley and Tri-Valley will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 at noon at North Schuylkill.
The District XI 3A Football Championship between North Schuylkill and Notre Dame of Green Pond will be held on Friday, November 27th, 2020 at 7:00pm at Northwestern Lehigh.
Should either game not be able to be played by the November 28th, 2020 deadline, the competing teams will be declared "co-champions" and the awards will be provided to both teams.
