Late Wednesday, it was announced that two District XI High School Football Championships would be postponed due to COVID-19.
According to the North Schuylkill School District Athletic Director Jim Gross, their Class 3A Championship game again Notre Dame Green Pond that was scheduled to take place at Northwestern Lehigh on Saturday will be postponed indefinitely due to contact tracing.
Gross said he and Head Coach Wally Hall have spoken with NDGP and they have agreed to submit a request to postpone their game until November 27th, 2020. The decision will be up to District XI if the game can be rescheduled or if the Spartans will be forced to forfeit.
The Class A Championship between Tri-Valley and Williams Valley will also be postponed after Tri-Valley postponed all their sports for 2 weeks due to COVID-19.
According to Tri-Valley Athletic Director Bob Felty, "The school board decided to allow the football team to start practicing again November 20 when our school returns to in-person instruction. We will be consulting with Williams Valley and District 11 to try to come to a solution."
