Mahanoy Area got a second try at Williams Valley during the first round of the District XI Playoffs Friday night.
During Week 4 of the High School Football Season, the Vikings traveled to Mahanoy City to face the Bears.
In a close match-up, Williams Valley pulled off a close win of 28-20 during the regular season game.
Fast forward to Friday night, when Mahanoy traveled to Dauphin County to face Williams Valley.
Williams Valley struck first during the first quarter when QB Bryce Herb threw a 40 yard touchdown pass to Alex Achenbach.
Mahanoy would come close on the next drive but would turn the ball over downs within the Vikings Red Zone.
During the second quarter, Williams Valley's Jesse Engle would run in another score but fail to add on extra points, resulting in a 13-0 score.
Mahanoy Area struck next when Ben Terry ran a score in following by a PAT bringing the score to 13-7.
The Vikings didn't let that stop them after Herb threw a pass to Jake Herman bringing the score to 21-7 by halftime.
The Bears scored on their first drive of the second half when Terry threw to Chris Cuff, following by a two point conversion bringing the score to 21-15.
The Vikings then scored on their first drive of the half after Herb threw to Brady Evans bringing the score to 27-15 after failing on the two point conversion.
Just before the end of the third quarter, Mahanoy's Terry would throw a 44 yard touchdown pass to Colm McGroarty bringing the score to 27-22, going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter would remain scoreless ending the game with a Vikings win over Mahanoy, 27-22.
Williams Valley moves on to play Tri-Valley in Round 2. Date/Time/Location have not been released as of this posting.
