William John Walinchus, 56, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Sunday, November 29th, at his residence.

Billy John was born in Mahanoy City, PA on October 29, 1964, a son of Carolyn (Lieberman) Walinchus, of Mahanoy City and the late William F. Walinchus.


He graduated from Marian Catholic High School class of 1983.

He was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City where he served as a Eucharistic minister.

Billy John did janitorial work at the Mahanoy City Public Library, also worked for many years at the former JE Morgan Knitting Mills and Universal Forest Products in Gordon.

He belonged to and was a proud member of the West End Fire and Rescue. He was also volunteered as an Ambulance attendant for many years with the Mahanoy City EMS and part time help for the Citizens Fire Company.

Billy John is survived by a sister, Caroline Mlynek, of Mahanoy City. a brother, Peter, husband of Ann Walinchus, of Mahanoy City; nieces and nephews: Matt, Krystal, Mark, Kelly, and Caitlyn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Thursday, December 3rd, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.

Friends may call Wednesday December 2, 6 to 8 PM and Thursday December 3, 9 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 masks are required, try to limit attendance. Social distancing is a must.

Interment will be at St. Fidelis Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.

William J. Barber, 80, of Tamaqua, PA, died on Monday, November 30, 2020 in Coaldale, PA. He was the husband of Carole (nee Pierson) Barber to whom he would have been married 60 years on December 31. 

Born in Coaldale on February 19, 1940, William was the son of William and Ruth (nee Kistler) Barber. A1959 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he worked for PPL Corporation as a service technician. William served in the Army from 1960-1963 and was a member of the National Guard and Reserves for 32 years. He also served as an instructor at the 2059th USAR School in Bethlehem, PA. William was a member of Masonic Lodge #238 where he served as a Past Master and a member of the Primitive Methodist Church, Tamaqua. 

In addition to his wife, Carole, he is survived by daughters, Susan Kabana and her husband Dennis of West Penn Township, PA and Bethann Julian and her husband Joseph of Lake Hauto, PA; grandchildren, Amy Kabana, Michael Kabana and his wife Laura, Joseph Julian and his wife Jessica, Nicholas Julian, and John Julian; great grandchildren, Riley Kabana, Keith Kabana, Damian Hamby, Enzo Julian, and Nico Julian; and sisters, Betty Gottshall of Danville, PA and Joyce Oertner and her husband Kurt of Orefield, PA. 

Services are private at the convenience of the family. 

Memorials in William’s name may be made to the Primitive Methodist Church, 55 Hunter Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Marilyn Goetz Doyle, 94, Resident of Pottsville her entire life and the past two years at Providence Place, Pottsville, passed Sunday, November 29th.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Tom in 1998.

The first born daughter of Fred Goetz and Ann Oberle Goetz, both deceased. She had five siblings: Those deceased, Jim of Florida.;Martina Goetz Streed of Iowa; Ann Goetz Petricone of CT. Surviving Siblings: Eugene of FL; Barbara Goetz Reichert of NJ.

She is survived by her only endearing son Tom, and daughter in law Eileen of MD. Also, adoring grand-daughter Jennifer Doyle Scicchitano and her husband Scott, of MD, and loving grandson, Balazs and fiance Nicole of FL. Three beautiful great-granddaughters, Maggie of MD; Skyler and Reese of FL. and many nieces; nephews; and great-nephews.

Marilyn spent most of her life working as a Paralegal for the District Attorney at the Schuylkill County CourtHouse and was an active member of Mary Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church teaching Sunday School and volunteering for events and later became a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

Marilyn will be missed and loved by family and friends.

Loriann M Clark, age 54, of Valley View, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020. at the home of her daughter in Valley View.

She was born on Monday, August 15, 1966, in Pottsville, a daughter of and Marie A (Bixler) Clark of Valley View and the late Willard L Clark.

Lori was employed at MI, Hegins, until becoming ill.

She was a member of the Valley View Gun Club and VFW Post 8237, Valley View.

She was preceded in death by her father and by a brother, Scott W Clark.

She is survived by a daughter, Amanda M Maurer and her husband Andrew of Valley View; a son, Wayne T Seiger of Pottsville; a grandson, Kayden Seiger; two granddaughters, Addison Maurer and Alayna Maurer; a brother, Steve W Clark and his wife Heather of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews,

Services will be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Duane Bardo officiating. Please follow CDC COVID-19 guidelines for the service.

Joseph Bryk, 64, of Brandonville, passed away on Friday, November 27th at Ridgeview Health & Rehabilitation in Shenandoah.

Born on August 16th, 1956 in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Green) Bryk.

Joseph worked as a health aide for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in several locations. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Ringtown, Pa. He also enjoyed playing online poker and liked to cook.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Mary Ann Marchetti with Rob – Minersville, Pa and Virginia Shadler – Patriotic Hill. Nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews also survive.

Graveside Services will be conducted on Monday, December 7th at 11am in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Ringtown and will be officiated by Fr. Dominic Pham
