Three people were killed in a crash on Interstate 81 in Lebanon County on Wednesday.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Jonestown, the crash occurred around 3:15pm in the southbound lanes of I-81 in Union Township at mile marker 87.5.
A synopsis of the crash reported that a Chevrolet Silverado struck a tractor trailer from behind as it slowed due to traffic conditions.
After the first collision, a second tractor trailer rear-ended the Silverado, pinning it between both tractor trailers.
The Silverado then caught fire trapping the occupants inside. Three of the occupants of the Silverado were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victims were not released as of the update from the State Police Thursday morning.
Interstate 81 was closed into the evening hours as the scene of the crash was reconstructed and investigated.
State Police say more details will be released at a later time.
