Portnoy, owner of Barstool Sports and Barstool Pizza Review, introduced the Barstool Fund earlier this month to help raise money for small businesses that are hurting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund has raised over $8 million with help from donors across the country and has already donated to dozens of businesses.
To qualify for the Barstool Fund, a business is required to still be paying its employees. If that requirement is met, any gym, restaurant or bar that’s not going to be able to survive the next few months is welcome to apply for help.
Businesses in Schuylkill County and across Pennsylvania have been struggling due to restrictions imposed by the Wolf Administration and Department of Health.
On Monday, Jack's Spot in Pitman got a little help when they learned they would be one of the recipients.
Owners Melissa and Nick Hoffman received a phone call from Portnoy, which was posted to Twitter.
