Mildred Krammes, 91, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday, December 30th, at The Gardens at York Terrace, Pottsville.

Born in Orwigsburg, on September 5, 1929, a daughter of the late Emma (Miller) and Furman Bensinger.

She was the widow of Robert A. Krammes.

She was a member of Drehersville United Methodist.

Mildred is preceded in death by her son Robert C. Krammes. She was the last living of 12 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son Duane Krammes (Ashley), Orwigsburg; grandchildren Dominic, Danielle and Kurt Krammes; many nieces and nephews; and her companion Ralph Hafer, Auburn.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 5th at Schuylkill Memorial Park in Schuylkill Haven.

After the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted the family would like to hold a Celebration of Life for Mildred.

Kathleen E. "Kathy" Procopio
, 84, of Mahanoy City, passed away Wednesday, December 30th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East in Pottsville. 

Born August 1, 1936 in Mahanoy City to the late Balthazar and Victoria (Becker) Cornelius. She was a 1954 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. 

Kathy and her late husband Joseph Procopio Sr. formerly owned and operated Paesano's Pizza & Hoagie Shop and Paesano’s Buy & Pay Here Auto Sales of Mahanoy City. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were two sons, Joseph Jr. and Gary. 

Survivors include one daughter Gina Werksman of Mahanoy City and family members including Belmont and Marianne Procopio, Sun City, AZ; Charles and Linda Procopio, Jupiter, FL; Concetta & Richard Jansen, Elysburg; Chris Bokunewicz, Shenandoah Heights; Susan Millard, Hazleton; many nieces, nephews & cousins. Kathy was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Gifford H. "Giff" Albright
, Architectural Engineering Educator (Retired) of State College, Pennsylvania died on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Foxdale Village in State College, Pennsylvania.

Born Saturday, February 14, 1931 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania the son of the late Harry Clayton and Grace (Reinhart) Albright.

Gifford earned his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University (1953) as the first graduate of the 5-year degree program and a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1955). After service with the US Naval Civil Engineering Corps, he returned to Penn State to become the founding Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering in the newly formed College of Engineering (1962-1983) where he served as Professor of Architectural Engineering until his retirement in 1991. As department head, he pioneered a unique curriculum that equipped students to integrate complex and diverse engineering systems for building construction. His vision for the impact of then developing computer technology on the building industry earned him, in 1968, recognition with the cover story in Engineering News Record. His Project MODCON and the first course in the country in building systems integration with computer applications were precursors to the industry over 50 years later.

He was a Program Director, National Science Foundation, Washington D.C. (1983-1988), and Professor Emeritus of Architectural Engineering, Penn State University since his retirement. He was a building research consultant, as G.H. Albright Associates, State College, Pa (1958-present) and served as Councilman, Triangle National Fraternity, Plainfield IN (1982-1986); President, Penn State University Alumni Chapter, Triangle Fraternity (1965-1969); Chair, Building Code Appeals Board, Borough of State College, Pa. (1965-1968). Gifford was a Lieutenant Junior Grade, US Naval Reserve.

In 1996 Professor Albright was named an Outstanding Engineering Alumnus of the Penn State College of Engineering for his outstanding career accomplishments.

He authored, "Planning Atomic Shelters: A Handbook" and Co- Authored "An Illustrated History of Tamaqua". Gifford was a member of the Construction Specification Institute (2004-2007), President, Penn State Retired Faculty Staff Club (2004-2007); President, Penn State Faculty Staff Club (1998-1999); and member of American Society of Testing and Materials; American Concrete Institute; Earthquake Engineering Research Institute; American Society of Heating, Ventilation and Refrigeration Engineers; an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects; Construction Industry Institute Marquis Who's Who Honors: Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement.

Joan M. Carl
, 84, of Tower City, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Joan was born in Maizeville, April 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Cominsky Pautienus.

She was a current member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown and its' women's club. Joan was formerly an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Chapel, Tower City where she was a member and officer of the Catholic Women's Club and a CCD teacher.

She was a member and former officer of the Orwin Fire Company and the Gratz VFW auxiliaries.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Carl, 2009; a son Raymond R. Carl, 2011; a grandson, Dallas Lodish, 2004; a son-in-law, James O'Shaughnessy; a sister, Bernice Schucker; brothers, William, Edward, Joseph and Robert Pautienus.

Surviving are four daughters, Janice L. Clouser (Jim), Muir; Sandi M. Mendinsky (Alex), Tower City; Christine A. O'Shaughnessy, Virginia and Nancy L. Mihalko (Tim), Hanover; two sons, Michael J. Carl (Jessica), Tower City and Patrick J. Carl, with whom Joan resided in North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Carl, Pine Grove; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren

A public walk through viewing following all CDC guidelines will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 6-7 pm at the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Opaki, AJ as celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. John L. Miller, 87, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Tuesday while at York Terrace Nursing Home for a brief period.

Born Jan. 2, 1933, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Florence Wetzel Miller.

He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School. John worked in the textile business in Schuylkill County, first working at ARGO and then Fessler's Knitting Mill, where he was an inspector.

He was a lifelong member of West End Hose Company, Pottsville, and enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Richard Miller, Thomas Miller, Dawn Cholko and Katie Williams.

John is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Ida L. Donton, along with their children, Brian J. Miller, husband to Jennifer, of Barnesville, Gary J. Miller, of Orwigsburg, and Kim Schnoke, of Schuylkill Haven. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brian Jr., Shane, Francis, Gary Jr., Tyler, Sierra, Krystin, Paul Schnoke Jr., Nikki Schnoke and Carlie Schnoke; along with great-grandchildren, Jayce and Noah; a sister, Margaret Nabholz.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Grabowski Funeral Home is entrusted with the services. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.grabowskifuneralhome.com.
