A woman from Coaldale has died from the injuries she suffered in a crash in Rush Township on Tuesday.
According to an update from Rush Township Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, through the investigation in to the crash that occurred along Claremont Avenue/Route 309 on Tuesday morning, additional information was learned.
The crash occurred around 11:00am, when a a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan was operated by an 18-year-old Amber Lynn Schwoyer, of Coaldale, was in the northbound passing lane, when the driver lost control and crossed into the southbound travel lane. The minivan then collided with a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer.
Schwoyer sustained life-threatening injuries, and as of Wednesday afternoon her status had not improved. The front passenger in minivan, a 13-year-old male from Tamaqua also received life-threatening injuries and is currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of LVH Cedar Crest. The third passenger in the minivan, a 3-month-old female is currently being treated in the Pediatric Unit of LVH Cedar Crest for a broken bone and other related injuries.
The operator of the second vehicle involved, a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer was a 55-year-old male from Tamaqua. He was transported by private vehicle for treatment at Miners Campus of St. Luke’s Hospital in Coaldale. He was later released.
The operator of the third vehicle, a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado was a 29-year-old male from Summit Hill. He was initially treated at the scene by EMS personnel and transported via ambulance to LVH Hazleton Campus for treatment. The male was stabilized, and then transferred to LVH Cedar Crest for additional treatment for moderate injuries.
The Lehigh County Coroner's office released later Wednesday evening that at 6:17pm, Amber Lynn Schwoyer was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
The cause of death was determined to be multiple traumatic injuries due to the motor vehicle accident. The manner of death, accident.

According to the release from the Rush Township Police, the incorrect information regarding the operator’s age and residence was a result of the trauma center receiving multiple crash victims in the same timeframe from different incidents with substantially similar circumstances.
