John Malinchok, the second-generation business owner of Malinchok Insurance in Frackville, announced on Tuesday January 12, 2021 that he wants to be the next magisterial district judge in northern Schuylkill County.
“I am pleased to announce my intention to seek the nomination in the election of 2021. This is an important position, and I am looking forward to serving the people of northern Schuylkill County,” Malinchok said. “I will treat people who come before the court fairly, just as I’ve done in my decades as a businessman and dedicated public servant through my work on the Schuylkill County Planning Commission and a variety of civic organizations.”
Malinchok would serve a six-year term as magisterial district judge for District 21-2-01 filling the vacant position of Christina E. Hale who recently was appointed to the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
In October, 2020, following Judge Hale’s appointment, State Senator Dave Argall, Representative Jerry Knowles, former Representative Mike Tobash, and County Commissioners Barron “Boots” Hetherington and George Halcovage requested that Governor Tom Wolf appoint Malinchok to the vacant position. The nomination to the vacancy is still pending in the Governor’s office and when an appointment is made, it must be confirmed by the State Senate.
Malinchok said he will cross-file on both the Republican and Democratic tickets in the May 18th Primary Election. The district includes Ashland, Frackville, Gilberton, Girardville, Gordon and Ringtown Boroughs, and Butler, North Union, Ryan, and Union townships and the Altamont Precinct of West Mahanoy Township
A lifelong resident of Frackville, Malinchok believes in the importance of community service and involvement. He has been a member of the Schuylkill County Planning and Zoning Commission for 30 years and is the county representative on NEPA’s MPO Technical Planning Committee. He is vice president of the Frackville Public Library and is a member of the Frackville Business and Professional Association, the Frackville Elks, and the North Schuylkill Friends of the Police.
Malinchok was formerly a member of the Frackville Borough Council, the Frackville Park and Restoration Committee and the Schuylkill Drug and Alcohol Council. Additionally, he was treasurer of the Frackville Little League and served as the first Chairman of Tim Twardzik’s recently-successful campaign committee for State Representative in the 123rd legislative district.
Malinchok is a graduate of North Schuylkill High School and Penn State University with a B.A. in accounting and financial management. To honor his parents and further support the University, Malinchok and his wife, Nancy, endowed the Paul and Martha Malinchok Memorial Football Scholarship.
